My first Thunderclap :D

Hello and welcome!

Please help me make a THUNDER for M. A. Abraham. It is my first one, so I need all the help I can get 😉

Tantalus-banner-Cora-wDates

Releasing October 6, 2015!

INTEGRATION, book 2 of Tantalus series by M. A. Abraham

As the inhabitants of Tantalus work together to create a new home, the Arc Royal travels closer to the planet. No one is surprised to find out that the man that they call the Witch Hunter is on board and in command, although not visibly so. He doesn’t wait very long to make his presence known.

The Tantalarians continue to do what they can to help their new neighbors, including guarding those in need from danger. While this happens, new friendships develop, old ones strengthen and the two species begin to form more meaningful bonds. That doesn’t stop those who will not accept change to cause trouble for the others. The Witch Hunter is in the background adding to the animosity and the confusion.

Lieutenant Nobel greets her sister, but her sister’s eyes are glued on Synric, not her son, as Julia thinks they should be. Synric is not very pleased with the sudden attention, but his actions speak louder than words. She doesn’t know that he has been ordered to befriend her sister and it makes her wonder, is the man she is falling in love with what she believes, or is she making a mistake by trusting him?

My Chat with Dave Gillies

Hello and welcome!

Today I have the owner of the voice I fell in love with while listening to Amy Jarecki’s audiobooks. His voice is easy to listen to, warm and passionate.

Please welcome Dave Gillies!

Dave Gillies headshot 2

Do you have a nickname?
Sorry to disappoint, but not really! I’ve never had one. Not a great start to this interview!

What is the one word that best describes you?
Hmmm… lazy.

What makes you laugh out loud?
Oh, loads of things. My girlfriend. Funny TV shows like Futurama, Blackadder and Rick and Morty. Proper witty things!

What is your favourite smell? What does it remind you of?
Coriander. I love it. It reminds me of putting too much coriander in things!

I love my shower gel, too. It smells like Onken Raspberry yogurt.

Favourite place to spend time in?
Bed, obviously, asleep! But the cinema is great, too.

Is there a genre that you refuse to read?
Actually, no. I did one under a pseudonym once, because it was so incredibly dirty, but in general I’ll do whatever!

Audiobooks! What started them?
Well, my Dad is a voiceover guy (indeed, he’s the master) so it’s sort of the family trade! You can hear his work on Audible – he’s James Gillies.

DG-narrating

I went freelance as a composer a few years ago and he suggested I get into audiobooks to supplement my income. Truthfully the narrating has become my main job!
James Gillies is your Dad? I listened to one of his narrations, Highland Fire: Guardians of the Stone, Book 1 by Tanya Anne Crosby and it was amazing. Wonderful story told by a passionate voice.

If you could choose another career what would it be?
Well, composing for huge movies would be pretty sweet. Space battles, intense emotional scenes, car chases etc. I love conducting orchestras, so getting to do more of that would be great!

DG-guitar

I’m pretty flighty, tho. What I’ve been doing a lot of, recently, is producing interesting radio drama and short films. So at the moment my main ambition is to become a big shot Hollywood film producer.

Does your work convey a specific emotion or message?
No, I don’t think on those terms. My songwriting (Dirty Keys) has a strong throughline, but I’ll let you work out what that is! In general I do what I’m asked to do. I’m bone idle, so I never do anything unless I’ve been commissioned to.

Who is your intended audience and why should they listen to your audiobooks?
Doesn’t feel like that’s for me to say! The audience depends on the book, and although I’m known for my work in the romance genre, it’s by no means my only area.

What is next in your narrating work?
Lots! I’ve multiple Highland romances in various stages of production for authors such as Amy Jarecki, Vonda Sinclair and Selena Kitt. There’s also a new M/M Aussie romance book for Toni Griffin, and some sci fi, too! But the last book to hit the shelves was book three from Amy Jarecki’s ‘Highland Dynasty’ series, ‘A Highland Knight to Remember’.

Thank you Dave for joining me in my little corner of the blogging world. I am looking forward to listening to more of your narrations.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks for joining me today and I hope you enjoyed the chat with Mr. Gillies. Hope you will check out the audiobooks, his voice is amazing.
I had the pleasure to listen to two of his narrations.
Return of the Highland Laird-cover
One of them was “Return of the Highland Laird”, book 4 of “A Highland Force” Novella by Amy Jarecki, see my review here.
An untimely tempest transports two miserable and lost souls to England’s Abbey Wood where they stumble across each other’s paths. Lady Jane, a battered woman and accused murderess – Laird Alexander, fleeing his keep after blaming himself for the accidental death of his wife. Both souls must heal their wounds. Both souls have reason to keep their identities hidden. This misshapen pair discovers each needs the other – though neither is willing to admit dependence. Alexander must return to his kin and resume his laird’s mantle. Lady Jane must clear her name and find forgiveness. But before healing can begin, it is essential they learn to trust…and love.
Knight in Highland Armor-cover
The other was “Knight in Highland Armor”, book 1 of “Highland Dynasty” series by Amy Jarecki, see my review here.
Grieving from the death of his wife, Lord Colin Campbell listens to the cries of his newborn son while penning a missive to the king. With no marriage prospects, Colin petitions his majesty for help in finding a stepmother. Never again will he fall in love; the death of a woman brings more pain than losing a whole contingent of men on the battlefield.
Feisty, quick tongued, and smart, Margaret Robinson is delighted when her father receives a messenger from the king…until she discovers what news he brings. In a sennight she will wed the notorious Black Knight. Her life is about to end.
Tension builds during the wedding and deteriorates from there until an accident draws them together. Just when their love begins to blossom, a dire request arrives from the pope. Colin must join the crusades at once. Their fragile love is forced to withstand the seductions of hell: Margaret tempted by a scoundrel laird, Colin courted by Satan himself. Aye, the war for Christendom could very well ruin their dreams forever.
Today I have the 6th guest from the “Highland Flames” anthology.
Welcome! Welcome!
What is your full name?
Magnus Diarmid MacLeod, Laird of the MacLeods of the Isle of Lewis
Do you have a nickname?
Magnus the Broken, but that’s only because there are two other Magnus MacLeod’s, and the clan will choose the oddest things to attach to one’s name, don’t ye know.
What is one word best describes you?
Can’t be one; has to be two… he says something under his breath I can’t quite hear… and frustrated.
Curious, are they? Weel, I’ve my muslin shirt—stained as it is with herbs and liquids—my worn breeches, with the yellow and green MacLeod plaid wrapped tight around my shoulders.
Do you think the author portrayed you accurately?
She did as well as she could, the dear lassie, see in’ as how I’m such a complex and clever character. But she has me talkin’ to myself as though I’m daft.
What makes you laugh out loud?
When I talk to myself, and when my brothers puff up their chests and become self-righteous eegits.
What is your favourite dessert?
Weel now, let me think on that. Tis without a doubt the poached pear pie Caitlin MacLeod bakes for me every time I do my healing’ for her family.
What is your favourite drink?
Ale, lass. What else would it be?
What is your greatest fear?
He grows pale and quiet Never findin’ someone who thinks and feels like I do. Endin’ up as alone as I feel right now.
What is your favourite colour?
Green like the forest in spring.
What do you wear when you go to sleep?
An old and comfortable pair of breeches.
What is the perfect romantic date?
Walkin’ out with a an extraordinary lass to a special, hidden place, where I’ve had a feast prepared for her.
How ticklish are you? Where are you ticklish?
An impertinent question, to be sure. I just never let anyone touch me along my upper ribs or under my arms. But I’m no’ ticklish at all. Definitely not.
What’s your favourite smell? What does it remind you of?
Tis of snow in springtime. It reminds me of a dream of a woman I can no’ escape.
When you look at a woman what catches your interest?
Her comeliness, I can no’ deny that, but there’s something else as well. Something deeper and harder to find—how she thinks and how she…feels.
Do you have somebody in your life now?
Aye, I’m thinkin’ I do.
What is one word best describes her?
Er…um…magical.
Is your book part of a series? What does the future hold for the readers of the series?
5 – The Scrolls of Cridhe, Vol. 2 – My Chat with Gunnar
Hello and welcome!
My next guest, also from the “Highland Flames” anthology, is a yummy Highlander with Viking blood in his veins YUM
Read on and find out what his answers are…
Welcome! Welcome!
What is your full name?
Gunnar MacLeod
Do you have a nickname?
Nae, though my lady wife calls me her ‘Lord of Winter’ now and then. I believe she only does so when she feels a need to flatter me. Gunnar leans in, lowering his voice, You didnae hear me say that, lass.
What is one word best describes you?
Loyal.
Describe what you are wearing now to our readers.
He’s glancing down, then returns his gaze to me ‘Tis a certain silver wolf cloak. I’ve a mail shirt beneath it, newly polished. My sword, a war ax, and a few silver arm rings as adornment. Likewise the Thor’s hammer amulet that aye hangs around my neck.
If you fine lasses glance again at the ‘nickname’ question, you’ll ken why I’m garbed this way.
Do you think the author portrayed you accurately?
She did. If she was a bit hard on me at the beginning, I cannae blame her. She knew I had good reason for certain things in my past. Off the page, she sympathized more than once. I understood she had to let Katla think the worst of me. For a while, anyway.
What makes you laugh out loud?
I shouldnae even breathe this, much less say it aloud – doing so might see me turned into a toad…
But there’s a certain crone who meddles her way through all my lady scribe’s tomes. A tiny old woman who ties her boots with red plaid laces. Devorgilla is her name, and what makes me laugh, is the look on Duncan MacKenzie’s face whenever she appears on the same book page he’s on.
For such a great man as the Black Stag of Kintail, you’d think he wouldn’t even blink just because a wee crone wanders into the ink. But he does. I suspect his reaction to Devorgilla amuses my lady scribe, too. It’s probably why she sends her after him at least once in every book.
What is your favourite dessert?
Can I say snowflakes that land on my lady’s cheeks? Her lips? Ladies, you should have seen the wicked gleam in his eyes when he said that!
What is your favourite drink?
Mead. I enjoy it most when drinking from a silver-rimmed mead horn that belonged to my g-g-g-g-grandfather.
What is your greatest fear?
Eniko, lass, did someone forget to tell ye I’m a MacLeod? I have Highland and Viking blood in my veins. That’s your answer. Yikes! I will not describe how he just sat there looking at me before he answered.
What is your favourite colour?
The pristine blue-white of frost and snow. Add cold wind and a clear and starry winter night, and I’m a happy man. Especially with my lady wife at my side.
What do you wear when you go to sleep?
He leans back, smiling wickedly again. I’m giving you the same answer as my friend, Gare, from The Taming of Mairi MacKenzie, Return to Kintail, Book I, in Highland Winds. I’m a Highlander. We need only cold night air and a hot-blooded woman to keep us comfortable in our beds. Aye, that means we sleep naked.
What is the perfect romantic date?
Visiting a certain very special place with my Katla. My lady scribe has made me vow under threat of an evil eye no’ to create a ‘spoiler’ by naming the place. I’d have told you myself. But she wields the pen. I’ll no’ vex her. She might go back into the story and write me out of it, ye ken? Perhaps weave in a different hero – one who doesn’t give ‘spoilers.’
Sue-Ellen pops her head in and winks at me I am not that bad, but I do hate spoilers, so he is wise to heed me.
He leans in again, lowering his voice…
See? What did I say? I’d spend the rest of my days charging through the inked pages of my own bluidy tale, trying to delete the new hero and reclaim my Katla. I have her now, and I’m keeping her. Readers wanting to ken our special place – and why we cherish it – can read our story.
How ticklish are you? Where are you ticklish?
My ribs. And if you e’er tell Katla, I’ll send Devorgilla after you.
What’s your favourite smell? What does it remind you of?
Brisk winter air, cold and clean. It reminds me of new beginnings, fresh and invigorating as it is.
When you look at a woman what catches your interest?
The light in her eyes. It reveals everything a man needs to know. The good bits, if you’d hear the way of it. See you, those ‘other bits’ are fine and I do enjoy them. But when you love a woman and mean to keep her all your days, you ken that the time comes when all that ‘fluff’ isn’t what it once was.
He leans in again, his expression intense as he continues…
But the spark in her eye, her inner flame, burns always. That’s where a woman’s true beauty is found.
Do you have somebody in your life now?
Aye, my lady wife, Katla MacKenzie.
What is one word best describes her?
Wild-of-heart. Three words, I ken, but my lady scribe strung them together for me. I’m hoping you won’t mind?
Is your book part of a series? What does the future hold for the readers of the series?
Aye, so it is, I’m proud to say. My lady scribe says Winter Fire is the second story in her ‘Return to Kintail’ series. Novellas she’s writing in one of her favorite story settings, Kintail in the Western Highlands.
I thank you for having me here today, Eniko-lass. It was good to step out of the page for a bit and stretch my legs. Now I’d best slip back into Winter Fire. Katla still frets a bit if I disappear longer than she thinks I should.
Thank you Gunnar for taking the time away from Katla and chat with me. My greeting to Katla!
He’s standing now, smiling at me before he heads for the door. Oops – he’s gone already…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thanks for dropping by and I hope you enjoyed the chat. i sure did 😉

As he already mentioned, Gunnar hails from “Winter Fire” by wonderful Sue-Ellen Welfonder.

When Katla MacKenzie meets a dashing stranger in an enchanted place, she gladly gives her heart – and her passion – to the lover she only knows as the Lord of Winter.
Gunnar MacLeod can’t resist the bonnie lass and seduces her—or is he the one seduced? A long-standing clan feud comes between them, but a heart that loves is powerful, and Gunnar will do whatever he must to claim Katla as his own.

HighlandFlames-cover

I had the opportunity to read his story and I was enchanted again by Ms. Welfonder’s ability to draw me into the story. It has all the elements to keep the reader glued to the page, intrigue, deception, magic, and of course love. Gunnar and Katla face many obstacles on their road to HEA and it is quite a trip. Devorgilla makes an appearance in this story too, I love her character and always look forward to her ‘antics’. Thank you Sue-Ellen!

What all vigorous men wear when they sleep: nothing.

What is the perfect romantic date?
I know little of romance, lass. I recently spent an evening stranded in a snow storm with Lady Annabelle and we…well, if ever there was romance, that would be it.

How ticklish are you? Where are you ticklish?
Nay, I am no’ ticklish.

What’s your favourite smell? What does it remind you of?
My favorite smell is the rosewater Lady Annabelle bathes in. It reminds me of her, and is a memory I will cling to for the rest of my life.

When you look at a woman what catches your interest?
Her eyes.

Do you have somebody in your life now?
Nay, no’ in the sense ye mean. I have sworn to be Lady Anabelle’s friend, and I will keep the promise until my dying day. But she belongs to another man.

What is one word best describes her?
Vivacious.

Is your book part of a series? What does the future hold for the readers of the series?
My story is the second in the Regency Bride series. The first book, Lord Grayson’s Bride, told the story of Lady Annabelle’s sister Lady Josephine. I believe Miss Scott plans next to write the story of Miss Summerfield, Lady Annabelle’s cousin. She is a very interesting woman.
I loved “Lord Grayson’s Bride”, I had Nicholas for a chat and I can’t wait to read Lena’s story. Thank you James for this chat.

James hails from Lord Ruthven’s Bride by wonderful Tarah Scott. I looooove her stories!

Lady Annabelle is torn between two men. The man she is betrothed to and the man who saved her life.

And what a story it is! The story has suspense, humour and a wonderful HEA. Loved James and Annabelle’s interactions, she is lucky that he is always there to save her, her curiosity got her into trouble many times. They are so good together, I laughed out loud a few times, especially at the end. It is such a delightful story. Thank you Tarah for the ARC!

1 – The Scrolls of Cridhe, Vol. 2 – My Chat with Logan

Hello and welcome!

As you read in my post yesterday, I invited the heroes of “Highland Flames” and today is the first chat.

Welcome! Welcome!

What is your full name?
Laird Logan Carr.

Do you have a nickname?
No.

What is one word best describes you?
Responsible.

Describe what you are wearing now to our readers.
That’s an odd question. I’m wearing a belted tunic, we call it a léine. Normally I would wear a plaid around my shoulders to keep of the chill, but it is a tad warm tonight.

Do you think the author portrayed you accurately?
Aye, she did rather well.

What makes you laugh out loud?
My grandmother. She is candid to the point of being inappropriate occasionally, but she is very funny.

What is your favourite dessert?
Maggie made the oddest thing a few days ago. She called it a cookie. I quite liked that.

What is your favourite drink?
A good heather ale is always refreshing.

What is your greatest fear?
Losing a loved one.

What is your favourite colour?
Green. No reason, I just like it.

What do you wear when you go to sleep?
By all the saints, lass, does anyone wear anything to sleep?

What is the perfect romantic date?
I’m not sure what a “date” is. However, I enjoy quiet evenings talking and perhaps playing chess.

How ticklish are you? Where are you ticklish?
I’m not ticklish at all. My feet are especially not ticklish. You’re getting this right? Logan Carr is not ticklish.

What’s your favourite smell? What does it remind you of?
I love the smell mint. Maggie puts it in her bath water and her hair always smells a bit like mint. Ye ken, fresh and clean.

When you look at a woman what catches your interest?
A woman’s eyes are the windows to her soul, but a soft round bottom is enticing too.

Do you have somebody in your life now?
My betrothed is Margaret Grant. She has changed recently. She likes to be called Maggie now. In fairness, I like “Maggie” better than I did “Margaret.”

What is one word best describes her?
Remarkable.

Is your book part of a series? What does the future hold for the readers of the series?
I’m not certain. I have been told that my great-grandchildren already appear in books. Apparently I will have a daughter named Malina, whose granddaughter is an admirable young woman named Grace. I will also have another daughter named Elasaid whose grandson, Niall MacIan somehow started this whole thing.

Thank you Laird Logan for taking the time for this chat and I am looking forward to reading your story.

I hope you enjoyed the chat.

The Scrolls of Cridhe 2

Hello and welcome!

Today I would like to welcome again the Guardians of Cridhe and their Scrolls.

The Legend…

Long, long ago, in the time before time, seven sisters were called from the far reaches of the realm. Each brought unique talents, but had one common gift; the ability to weave ageless tales of love and courage. An evil witch coveted their gifts and locked them in a tower, silencing their voices upon threat of death. But the Highlands are enchanted, and magic will not countenance seven pure hearts such as theirs to be lost.

Highland Flames-bannerWith no one else to hear them, they sang their stories to each other. Fate blew a braw Highland wind to their prison, and the sweet, high timbre of the sisters’ voices enthralled it. The wind gathered close their silver words as it raced past each day, and carried their love and goodness throughout the world…then across the ages.

Today, their words live on in the Guardians of the Cridhe, seven sisters who have sworn to preserve those pure and musical hearts so long as they live. It is said these seven descend from those ancient female bards. Only their words can bear witness to that truth…

Check out their Facebook page and Twitter to keep up to date.
