My Chat with Cailean!

Hello and welcome!

I met my next guest a few days ago and …. Just keep reading 😉

Welcome! Welcome!
where is my ice bucket?  … he is soooo… YUM

What is your full name?
Cailean Ross

Do you have a nickname?
Cailean the Champ. The by-name hails from my champion knight status on the tournament and Highland Games circuit, namely the hugely popular Heatheredge Gathering in Scotland’s far north.

What is one word best describes you?
Dedicated.

Describe what you are wearing now to our readers.
Aye, well… As you’ve caught me at the start of EDGE OF YESTERDAY, I’m in my most resplendent medieval reenactor gear. I was just heading for the joust, so I’m mailed, plated, and helmed in shining armor. As I’m proud to be a Scot, I’ve also slung my Ross plaid about my shoulders. And, of course, I’m carrying my trusty sword, Triumph.

I dinnae like to boast, but I’ve been drawing the eyes of the ladies here at the Gathering. A shame none of them appeal to me, lovely as they all are. I’d rather have a fine and braw medieval lass, but they are thin on the ground in modern-day Scotland.

Do you think the authors portrayed you accurately?
He grins For the most part, aye. It wasnae always easy accepting the mores and such of medieval Scotland – after all, how many men these days have an overlord who pretty much rules everything ye do? Good thing I liked and respected the one the authors chose for me. Otherwise, I might have walked off the page.

So, aye, Tarah and Sue-Ellen did me proud. Their pens gave me my head for the most part, with them just following along, scribbling away as I went about my business.

If I could change anything, I’d request potatoes in the story. Damn, I missed my tatties! But spuds didn’t exist in medieval Scotland, and so… I did without.

What makes you laugh out loud?
My lady’s brother asking if I can sit a horse or swing a sword. He chuckles shaking his head He only asked once.

What is your favourite dessert?
Millionaire Shortbread, which sadly also doesnae exist in medieval Scotland.
I have to search that... searching on the weboh they look yummy

Millionaires-Shortbread2.jpg
recipe

What is your favourite drink?
Anything but medieval cider. He shudders
I remember your first experience with cider 😀

What is your greatest fear?
Now he really laughs I would say my mother-in-law, but as she is indeed a formidable and very powerful woman, I’ll no’ risk her seeing this interview and getting annoyed. I’d like to keep my head on my shoulders.

What is your favourite colour?
The shining silver steel of my sword.

What do you wear when you go to sleep?
Cold Highland air and my lady’s attentions.

What is the perfect romantic date?
Aye, well… I wouldn’t mind taking my love, Lady Julianna, to modern-day Heatheredge for a pub lunch at the town’s cozy tavern. Then I’d drive her north to Durness on Scotland’s rugged northern coast for a few days of long walks across the beaches and cliffs there. Privacy with her, see you? There is no’ much of that in medieval Scotland.

How ticklish are you? Where are you ticklish?
A champion knight is ne’er ticklish, lass. No’ in this time, nor in the auld days.

What’s your favourite smell? What does it remind you of?
Peat smoke on a chill autumn day. And if I have to tell you what it reminds me of, you’ve never been to the Highlands.
Unfortunately I have not, but it is on my bucket list.

When you look at a woman what catches your interest?
Hey, her looks. I’m a man, after all. But what really matters, what keeps me looking, is what comes out of her mouth. It’s a strong and smart woman that fires my blood. I’m blessed to have just such a spitfire in my beloved Julianna. She’s smart as a whip and bold as they come. God, I love her!

Do you have somebody in your life now?
I sure do. My lady wife, Julianna. Though, in truth, I don’t have her quite yet. As I understand this romance-novel-hero deal, you readers have to first read my book before I can truly claim her. We have to reach our happy-ever-after ending and all – and do so in public! Before readers’ eyes. I did have a chuckle at that part, you were quite embarrassed 😀

Did you hear that? I don’t think that is really fair. I want her now, see you? So get reading, lassies! Grab a copy of EDGE OF YESTERDAY, read on, love the book, and make me a happy man.

What is one word best describes her?
Daring.

Is your book part of a series? What does the future hold for the readers of the series?
Aye, EDGE OF YESTERDAY is book one of Tarah Scott’s and Sue-Ellen Welfonder’s co-authored EDGE series. These are Scottish time travel romances. There will be lots more “EDGE OF..” books coming, so readers can get ready to spend lots of exciting times in Heatheredge, Scotland, the fictitious Highland setting of the series.

I’ll add that the location is based on a real place known to the authors. I’ll also vouch that readers will enjoy their time there. After all, how can they not when I’ll be there to greet them?

I sure did enjoy myself. Thank you Cailean for chatting with me, say hello to Lady Julianna for me.

Now, thank you for having me, dear lady. It’s been good to have a blether with ye, as we Scots say. But I need to get back to my Julianna now. She knows I love her, but she might no’ like me spending too much time with all your lovely modern-day lady readers.

So I’m away… See you at the Edge, ladies!

Thank you for joining us and I hope your had fun, I know I did 😉

EDGE OF YESTERDAY-cover.jpg

As Cailean mentioned he hails from book 1 of the Edge Series, Edge of Yesterday by two amazing authors, Tarah Scott and Sue-Ellen Welfonder.

Edge series-banner.jpg

Two of Scottish romance’s most loved authors have joined pens to write a thrilling new time travel series filled with passion, danger, and intrigue. These never-before-published novels will sweep you to Scotland’s Highland Heatheredge, where magic is real, time is relevant, and there is no escape from desire…

Men are disappearing in the Highland crofting village of Heatheredge. The authorities suspect foul play, but without signs of violence—or bodies—they can’t prove a thing.

World champion swordsman Cailean Ross is living the fantasy of a lifetime as the victor of Heatheredge’s medieval reenactment Gathering. But when the fantasy turns into reality, swordplay becomes a fight to the death and he finds himself among the ‘missing’ statistics.

Julianna Mackay flees a man she fears is an evil wizard and literally runs into handsome Cailean Ross. Cailean defends Lady Julianna from her attackers. Together, they set out in search of the key to a six-hundred-year-old curse that can only be broken in medieval Scotland.

When the veil of time is lifted, Cailean and Julianna find that love may not be enough to save them or those they hold dear.

“Is my company so abhorrent that you must flee?” she asked.

“On the contrary your company is too pleasing.”

She dropped her gaze in a clear attempt to hide her expression but Cailean could see she was pleased.

“Then stay,” she said.

“If your brother catches me here, he will try to kill me.”

She snorted. “Lennox knows I am a woman grown, and I am no maiden. I can do as I please.”

“That doesnae mean he would want me dallying with you.”

“Dallying?” She lifted her brows. “Ye think well of yourself, sir.”

“Dallying isn’t what ye had in mind?” he asked.

Her eyes darkened. Yes, this woman was trouble. She started toward him. He straightened from the wall and remained perfectly still until she stopped in front of him.

“I am no idiot,” she said. “I have seen the way you look at me.”

Trouble, trouble, trouble.

But he wasn’t going to take the bait. He stared but said nothing.

“Ye find me pleasing to look upon,” she said.

“I have eyes,” he said, then cursed his tongue. Give the woman inch and she would take a mile.

She stepped closer and before he could move she placed her hands on his chest. “You want to know what it is like to kiss me.”

It wasn’t a question.

She slid her hands up his chest and over his shoulders, her fingers brushed his flesh and tickled the sensitive hair at the back of his neck. His cock began to lengthen.

“Julianna,” he said, but she was pulling his head down.

Their lips touched and Cailean felt his surroundings slip away. Her mouth, warm and soft, melted beneath his. Her breath was sweet with the taste of rosemary and mint. Lightly, her tongue flicked at his lips. Cailean sucked her tongue into his mouth. She pressed close and her hard nipples poked into him. Cailean gripped her shoulders and crushed her to him. Julianna speared the fingers of one hand into his hair and tugged as she nipped at his lips. Heat flashed through him. She abruptly pulled back and Cailean jarred. Julianna backed him toward the bed. Leaving would have been the better part of valor. But a kiss or two wouldn’t hurt…

“Your brother will never forgive me,” he said.

“Then we willnae tell him.”

The backs of his legs bumped the wood frame of the bed and he fell onto his arse. His cock jerked when she knelt in front of him. Sweet God, she wasn’t going to… She kept her eyes on his face as she reached toward his…belt. Laughter appeared in her eyes as she unbuckled his sword belt. The woman was a tease—and knew it. She grasped the sword and pulled the belt from around him, buckled it, then hung it over the small post at the foot of the bed. Julianna rose, hiked up her dress, and straddled his lap. She reached beneath her skirt and shoved his kilt up to his waist. He held his breath as her velvety soft skin made contact with his thighs.

“God have mercy,” he breathed, and she laughed as her mouth descended onto his.

Cailean kissed her back and wondered if he’d ever truly kissed a woman before today. He’d known beautiful women, had cared for one or two, but Julianna took his breath away.

Her soft belly bumped his engorged cock and a spasm of pleasure pulled his bollocks so tight he grimaced in discomfort. Bloody hell, he wanted the woman. Her mouth moved on his and this time she sucked his tongue into her mouth. Cailean grasped the hairnet she wore and pulled it from her hair. Two long braids tumbled free. He took one braid and worked it loose until the thick tresses filled his hand. He drew a fistful of the hair to his nose and breathed deep.

She began to rock her mons against his erection. He drew a sharp breath when her soft curls tickled the underside of his cock and bollocks. Cailean gritted his teeth against the compulsion to orgasm. He hadn’t embarrassed himself in that way since he’d been a lad of nineteen. He broke the kiss, then tugged down a sleeve of her dress and revealed one perfect breast with a light pink areola. He ducked his head and took the nipple in his mouth. Her skin tasted slightly salty and felt like velvet. He flicked the nipple with his tongue. She gasped and rocked harder. Each bump against his member sent pleasure rocketing through him. She hadn’t lied when she said she was no maiden. The woman knew what she wanted—and he liked that. So much for the submissive wilting medieval woman.

Cailean twisted and rolled Julianna onto her back. He shoved his hands beneath her arse and scooted her fully onto the bed. Her loosened hair framed her face like spun gold. Cailean brushed his lips against hers. She stilled and satisfaction shot through him. She wasn’t afraid to ask for what she wanted, but she hadn’t expected tenderness…and maybe a little more?

He kissed her again and covered a breast with his palm. Julianna slid her arms around him and hugged him close. Cailean gently rocked against her. It would take every ounce of determination he had not to come before he pleased her, but he would do it. She arched her hips. What would she do if he slipped a finger into her wet heat? His heart pounded. God help him, if he touched her sex he might not be able to keep from driving inside her like a beast.

My thoughts – 5 stars
To the authors: I haven’t done any cleaning and is all your fault 😛

I couldn’t stop reading, I could not put it down, the whole time I was in suspense waiting to see what happens next, loved the buildup, the story is amazing. The characters mesh well, loved the interactions between Cailean and Julianna. Made me laugh thought how long it took Cailean to realize he was not in his time anymore, it created quite a few interesting moments for him. The ending was surprising… a good one, I promise 😉

Cover reveal for “The Rented Bride”

Hello and welcome!

I have the honour to be the first one to reveal this beautiful cover to you!

the rented bride cover FINAL.jpg

Billionaire Trent Weston dominates in the boardroom, but when it comes to the bedroom he’s discovered it’s dangerous to trust a woman. Now, with his grandfather’s health failing, Trent is determined to make the older man’s last days special… even if that means marriage.

Event planner Cassie Adams is determined to make her mark. However, the Weston party isn’t going as she’d hoped. One disaster after another is going to get her fired. So imagine her surprise when Trent Weston proposes marriage. Only he doesn’t want forever. He just wants to rent her.

Release date is September 6, 2016 and available for pre-order at AmazonARe for now, it will be available at the other major e-stores too, the links will be shared as they become live.

Here is a taste 😉

“Why did you tell everyone we are engaged, Mr. Weston?”
He continued to stare out the window into the dark night. Cassie waited, hands clasped on her lap where she sat on the settee beside the window. He lifted the glass of scotch he held, pressed the edge against his lower lip and swallowed. The slide of his Adam’s apple drew her gaze. Her mouth suddenly went dry. She swallowed.
He lowered the glass. “I won’t bore you with the details.”
“Bore me.”
“I’m in need of a wife.”
“Get a girlfriend, propose to her.”
“I had planned to do just that here at this very party, in fact. But that’s no longer an option.” He took a deep breath. “Ms. Adams, could I interest you in a temporary position?”
“You want me to work for you?”
He nodded. “Yes. My grandfather’s health isn’t good.”
He didn’t need to elaborate. She’d witnessed the old man’s frailty.
“I would do anything to bring joy to his final days,” he said.
“You want me to plan another party?”
He gave a low laugh, but it didn’t ring with light-heartedness. “No, he’s had enough excitement. He needs to relax, to know that his legacy is safe.”
“I’m not a nurse.”
“He has a nurse. He needs an heir, a great-grandson.”
Whoa! Cassie stood. “Whatever you’re thinking, forget it.” Who exactly was he expecting to produce this heir? And she didn’t want to think about who would sire the child. She shook her head. “You’ve got the wrong girl.”
He turned. “You misunderstand. I’m sure one day I’ll have a wife and children.” He set his glass on the side table, then took two steps and stopped six inches in front of her. An unnerving heat blossomed in her chest and a flutter of butterflies flitted in her belly.
“He doesn’t have long. I’m asking if you will pretend to be my wife for the few days he has left with us.”

Do you think the author portrayed you accurately?
Aye, she did, though I would say she was kind in showing the best of me—as much as was possible, in any event.

What makes you laugh out loud?
he laughs softly As a lad, I laughed often. But that changed, and I have no’ laughed for some time. Lately, however, Lady Annabelle has made me laugh, and often. She cannot keep her thoughts to herself. That does tend to get her into trouble, but it is also very humorous.

mix of fresh summer berries

What is your favourite dessert?

How ticklish are you? Where are you ticklish?
Nay, I am no’ ticklish.

What’s your favourite smell? What does it remind you of?
My favorite smell is the rosewater Lady Annabelle bathes in. It reminds me of her, and is a memory I will cling to for the rest of my life.

When you look at a woman what catches your interest?

Nay, no’ in the sense ye mean. I have sworn to be Lady Anabelle’s friend, and I will keep the promise until my dying day. But she belongs to another man.

What is one word best describes her?
Vivacious.

Is your book part of a series? What does the future hold for the readers of the series?

I loved “Lord Grayson’s Bride”, I had Nicholas for a chat and I can’t wait to read Lena’s story. Thank you James for this chat.

James hails from Lord Ruthven’s Bride by wonderful Tarah Scott. I looooove her stories!

Lady Annabelle is torn between two men. The man she is betrothed to and the man who saved her life.

And what a story it is! The story has suspense, humour and a wonderful HEA. Loved James and Annabelle’s interactions, she is lucky that he is always there to save her, her curiosity got her into trouble many times. They are so good together, I laughed out loud a few times, especially at the end. It is such a delightful story. Thank you Tarah for the ARC!

The Scrolls of Cridhe 2

Hello and welcome!

Today I would like to welcome again the Guardians of Cridhe and their Scrolls.

The Legend…

Long, long ago, in the time before time, seven sisters were called from the far reaches of the realm. Each brought unique talents, but had one common gift; the ability to weave ageless tales of love and courage. An evil witch coveted their gifts and locked them in a tower, silencing their voices upon threat of death. But the Highlands are enchanted, and magic will not countenance seven pure hearts such as theirs to be lost.

Highland Flames-bannerWith no one else to hear them, they sang their stories to each other. Fate blew a braw Highland wind to their prison, and the sweet, high timbre of the sisters’ voices enthralled it. The wind gathered close their silver words as it raced past each day, and carried their love and goodness throughout the world…then across the ages.

Today, their words live on in the Guardians of the Cridhe, seven sisters who have sworn to preserve those pure and musical hearts so long as they live. It is said these seven descend from those ancient female bards. Only their words can bear witness to that truth…

Check out their Facebook page and Twitter to keep up to date.

I remember reading about that, I was fanning myself…

How ticklish are you? Where are you ticklish?
No respectable SAS agent would own up to being ticklish.

What’s your favourite smell? What does it remind you of?
My favorite smell is freshly baked scones. My grandmother made the best scones I’ve ever eaten. One of my favorite childhood memories is of waking to the smell of her scones in the oven.

When you look at a woman what catches your interest?
Her eyes. No man can truly know what a woman thinks, but he can see in her eyes what she’s made of.

Do you have somebody in your life now?
I do, a beautiful Mississippi Deputy Sheriff, Margot Saulnier.

What is one word best describes her?
Charles laughs Like me, she, too, is tenacious.
You can say that again, a few times I wanted to grab her hand to hold her back.

Is your book part of a series? What does the future hold for the readers of the series?
“Seduced” is not part of a series, though I do believe Tarah has planned other books that are similar.

Thank you so much for taking the time for a chat, Charles, I really enjoyed your story. Hugs to Margot and take care of each other.

Not over yet… remember, I promised two chats? Come run with me to Castle Morrison and let’s meet the other hunk. He is from the past.

Hello! Anybody there?

I feel, more than hear, him approach and I am getting goosebumps…

He scowls at me, but I know he means no harm, so I hurry on with my questions

What is your full name?
Logan Alexander Morrison

Do you have a nickname?
I have no nickname.

What is one word best describes you?
Lost.

Morrison_LC morrison_bl
source

Describe what you are wearing now to our readers.
A white lawn shirt, kilt, and boots.
I am really appreciating the view

Do you think the author portrayed you accurately?
She did. The lady is thorough.

What makes you laugh out loud?
Logan’s eyes darken It has been too long since I laughed, at least three hundred years. I canna’ remember what it is like.

What is your favourite dessert?
Shortbread

What is your favourite drink?
Ale

What is your greatest fear?
My greatest fear is that my brother will find the woman who can free him from our prison. And I fear that woman is Margot Saulnier.

What is your favourite colour?
Yellow, the color of the sun. But I havena’ seen it in over three hundred years.

What do you wear when you go to sleep?
Hush, lass. Have ye any notion of the danger in asking such a question here in Castle Morrison? Promise me ye will never repeat that question while anywhere on the Isle of Lewis.

What is the perfect romantic date? Romance?
Romance does no’ exist here in Castle Morrison. Caterine Bowers, the new owner of Castle Morrison, would have ye believe romance is behind the curse of Castle Morrison. But that’s a lie. It’s death.

How ticklish are you? Where are you ticklish?
I was ticklish on the soles of my feet when I was a lad. But that passed once I became a man.

What’s your favourite smell? What does it remind you of?
The smell of the sea. The smell of rain after a storm. The smell of a woman… Ye asked for one. There are so many. I miss them all.

When you look at a woman what catches your interest?
Her eyes. And her laugh. You canna’ see her laugh, of course, but a woman’s laugh tells a man much about her.

Do you have somebody in your life now?
Nay. I can never again have someone in my life. The woman who has been visiting me, Margot, can never be anything to me.

What is one word best describes her?
Foolhardy. Nay, that isna’ completely fair. She does not understand the danger here at Castle Morrison. That is what frightens me.

Is your book part of a series? What does the future hold for the readers of the series?
Nay. Seduced is no’ part of a series. Be glad for that, lass. Otherwise, more women would die.

Thank you for your time Logan, I really loved reading your story especially the good ending. I was happy you found love and peace.

And there you have it. Thanks for dropping by and I hope you enjoyed both chats.

Seduced-ebook-full

Charles and Logan both hail from “Seduced” by Tarah Scott. Previously published under the title “Labyrinth”

It’s a Mississippi Deputy Sheriff’s duty to bring a serial killer to justice…even when he’s a three hundred year old Scottish lord. It’s an SAS agent’s duty to save her. With each passing day, Lord Colin Morrison grows more furious…and more desperate. In three hundred years, not one of the women who shared his bed broke the spell that imprisoned him in Castle Morrison. Margot Saulnier is different. She can save him. All she has to do is give in to her desire for him. Then die.

Deputy Sheriff Margot Saulnier knows her best friend murdered her husband—Margot’s cousin—but she can’t prove it. Now, four years later, out of the blue, Cat calls Margot from Scotland and invites her to visit. Margot turns in her badge and leaves Mississippi. This time, she’ll do whatever it takes to prove Cat murdered Donny. Margot didn’t plan on falling in love with an SAS Agent—or a three-hundred-year-old Scottish lord. Now she must choose.

SAS Agent Charles McNeil is going to keep Margot Saulnier out of trouble—whether she likes it or not. He understands her need for justice, but with no proof and no authority, she’s headed for serious trouble. So is he. Charles didn’t plan on falling in love with Margot. Neither did he plan on saving her from a serial killer.

Read on! Excerpt coming up…

This is when Charles meets Margot…

“Ms. Saulnier.”

The deep male voice caused Margot to slow her walk along the east garden path and glance over her shoulder. A tall, sandy haired man approached. Blue jeans hugged long legs, and a brown bomber jacket stretched across broad shoulders. Arresting blue eyes held her gaze. Margot’s pulse skipped a beat. Well, damn, Scotland was the place for good-looking men.

She stopped and turned so he could catch up with her. “Sugar, I don’t think we’ve met, but I’m glad you didn’t let the possibility of rejection stop you. Not that there’s much chance you’ll get rejected.”

A corner of his mouth twitched. “Special Director McNeil, at your service.”

Margot startled. “What?” Before he could respond she murmured, “Hicks.”

She was a fool. She’d known Chief Hicks enough years to know he wouldn’t let her walk out and not keep tabs on her.

“You’re going to get me killed,” she said through tight lips.

McNeil’s brow lifted. “That could get me a discommendation.”

“A comedian,” she muttered, then shot a glance past him at the castle battlements visible beyond the trees. Who had he talked to at the office? She turned and started down the path. He fell in alongside. “Want to tell me what you’re doing here?” she said.

“Professional courtesy.”

“Bull—” The brow shot up again and she gave him a sweet smile. “You’re checking up on me, sugar.”

“A moment ago you seemed glad a stranger had the bullocks to approach you.”

His cultured tone did nothing to belie the sensual undertone in his voice, and butterflies tickled the inside of her stomach at thought of those bullocks and the matching cock. A man appeared on the path ahead, pushing a wheelbarrow filled with gardening tools, and the erotic picture evaporated. Margot cursed at recognizing the head gardener. Reports of her meeting with a man in the garden would reach Cat within the hour.

“Once Cat gets wind that the Northern Constabulary paid me a visit, she’ll know this isn’t the vacation it’s supposed to be,” Margot said.

“That shouldn’t prove a problem,” he said. “I’m not with the Northern Constabulary.”

She started to ask, then knew. “Scotland Yard.”

He smiled, and she remained quiet as the gardener passed with a sidelong glance in their direction. Margot took a deep breath and waited until they reached a branching path, then turned left.

“Look,” she said, “you’ve got to see this from my point of view.”

“Actually, Ms. Saulnier, I don’t. You’re a visiting law enforcement officer. That accords you professional courtesy—as I said earlier—but make no mistake, I do not have to understand your point of view. Rather, you need to understand mine.” He paused. “Your police chief strongly suggests you return home.”

“He’s not my police chief,” Margot corrected.

“He said you’re good, the best, but you’re mistaken this time.”

“Did it occur to you he might be mistaken?”

“I’m not in a position to judge him.”

“No, you’re not. You’re also not in any position to hassle me.”

“Not hassle,” McNeil began in a mild voice, “let’s just say I am in a position to advise. Though, given a choice, I’d prefer another position, altogether.”

She blinked. “You’re propositioning me?”

He shrugged. “How often does a man meet a beautiful Mississippi Deputy Sheriff?”

“Ex-Mississippi Deputy Sheriff.”

“Your badge hasn’t yet grown cold.”

“I doubt I’ll be here long enough for any position. By now, that gardener has reported to Cat, and she’s checking you out. By the time we’re finished with this walk, she’ll know Scotland Yard paid me a visit.”

He shook his head. “Cousin Harry sent me here to investigate the castle. He’s rich as the Devil, and is interested in bringing his wife here for holiday.”

“Don’t kid yourself,” Margot shot back. “Cat will check you out—you ensured that by waylaying me.”

“Waylaying?” he repeated, voice laced with a heaping of amusement that made her want to throttle him. “Waylaying would be if I dragged you into those trees and had my way with you.”

Margot did a double take with the mental picture of her pressed against a tree, dress bunched up to her waist as his cock thrust hard and fast into her. His face snapped back into focus and she found him staring.

Heat spread across her cheeks at flashflood speed. “Cat won’t be fooled by a Scotland Yard cop showing up at Castle Morrison, no matter what story he spins.”

“She won’t find Charles McNeil on any employee list,” he replied.

“What? Scotland Yard’s cops aren’t clandestine.”

“Correct. But SAS is.”

“Special Air Services?” What kind of favor had Hicks called in? “What is special forces doing on a case like this?”

“John realized that a visit from a Bobby might compromise your cover so he called me.”

“John?”

“John Gordon.”

She gave a small nod. John Gordon, Chief Constable of the Northern Constabulary. She’d checked out local law enforcement before leaving the States. First Hicks was on her tail, now the head of the whole damn island.

Margot gave McNeil an appraising look. “That’s some favor your constable called in.”

“He’s a close friend.”

“What’d he do, save your life?”

“Something like that. So, where shall we go for dinner?”

She stared. “Are you kidding?”

He shrugged. “How better to keep you under surveillance?”

“You could simply leave me alone.”

He shook his head. “I have my orders.”

“Just what kind of uncover work do you do?”

He turned his gaze onto her “A kind sure to please you.”

Her pulse skittered, but she forced her chilly cop’s voice, “You’re damned sure of yourself.”

“I’m a trained professional. Shell we say seven? I know the perfect restaurant.”

Margot narrowed her eyes. “This is blackmail.”

He shrugged. “All part of the professional courtesy.”

“Professional courtesy, my ass,” she muttered, and wondered what Hicks would do if she sent him a thank you note for keeping tabs on her.

And another excerpt, this one when Logan meets Margot…
A tad on the naughty side, so if this kind of read offends you, please skip it!

Margot turned right and another hallway in the castle stretched out before her, this one in deeper shadow than the last. She glanced behind her. A single sconce created an eerie shadow dance across the stone walls and floor. She startled at sight of a heavy oak door on the corner of the bend in the hallway. The doorway hadn’t been there when she’d walked past. Besides, how could a room be built on the corner of two hallways? Margot hesitated, then faced forward, took one step, another, and another until a door came into view on the left.

She stopped at the door, grasped the handle, and pressed down on the latch. The soft click of latch releasing from catch sent a prickle up her arms. In the last two hallways, door after door had been locked. Her fingers trembled on the handle. Well damn, what would the boys back home in Wilkinson County think of Deputy Sheriff Saulnier unnerved by an unlocked door?

Margot released the handle and pressed against the wood, easing the door open. To her right, low flames bobbed in a fireplace. A sword and dagger hung over the mantle. The blades pointed toward an antique bowl and pitcher sitting on a small table between an open door in the corner of the room and the floor-length curtains opposite her.

She leaned forward and peered around the door. An ornate four-poster bed stood against the left wall, gray draperies swaged between posts. The burgundy quilt that covered the bed was turned back as if in invitation to crawl between the snow-white sheets. An odd sense of familiarity nudged. Had she been here before?

Hairs on the back of her neck rose to attention. She swung her gaze to the right and sucked in a breath. A man stood in the corner doorway. Intense brown eyes stared back at her just as they had that afternoon when she’d seen him standing in the main entrance of Castle Morrison.

Butterflies tickled the inside of her stomach. Standing this close, she wanted to run her fingers through the tousled dark curls that brushed his shoulders. Low firelight softened the square jaw shadowed by stubble. The green and red checked sash that had draped his shoulders earlier now hung loosely about a kilt held in place by a thick leather belt and buckle. A crisp, white shirt stretched taught across his muscled chest. Margot released a silent breath. Memory hadn’t done him justice. He seemed taller, broader…more dangerous.

His eyes narrowed. “How did ye get here?”

Despite the soft burr that caressed her like a summer breeze heavy with damp heat, she couldn’t miss the recrimination in his voice. She didn’t know how she’d gotten here, any more than she knew how he had appeared in the painting of the castle that hung over the fireplace in her room. When she’d arrived at Castle Morrison that afternoon he hadn’t been in the picture. But she’d woken from her nap two hours later to see him standing in the main entrance, his expression of anticipation painted in exquisite detail. He’d been waiting for someone. A woman, she realized.

“Did your lady friend show up?”

Surprise flashed in his eyes, but vanished in thin-lipped disapproval. “You will return from whence ye came, if you have any sense about you—” his tone suggested she had no sense, “—and quickly.”

His gaze raked her body, and she glanced down at the gold colored, satin pajamas she’d worn to bed. Her nipples stood at attention. Tit for tat, she figured, and shifted her gaze past the kilt to his bare legs. Her pulse skittered. She’d heard that Scots didn’t wear underwear under kilts. No doubt about it, underwear or no underwear, that outfit would get him arrested in her hometown of Woodville, Mississippi. The entire population, a whopping one thousand, two hundred and fifteen, would show up, Bibles in one hand, rifles in the other, to ensure he dressed as every God fearing person was meant to dress.

“I felt certain you had more sense than the others,” he said, then added in a mutter, “Foolish girl.”

“What others? You know me?”

“If you believe he will let ye escape—”

Awareness zipped up her spine. She glanced sharply behind her through the open door.

“What is amiss?” he demanded.

The faint crash of waves caught her attention and she looked to the curtains at the far side of the room. Memory struck a cord. She had been here before—or in the castle, that is. This was Castle Morrison. She’d arrived that afternoon. Desire ripped through her.

Margot yanked her attention back onto the man. “You wouldn’t be dabbling in bayou magic, would you, sugar?”

She’d never put much stock in the black magic the women back home secretly practiced, but neither had she felt anything mess with her insides like that.

“Magick?” he repeated.

Unease brought the hairs on the back of her neck to attention. “You stay right there,” she ordered, and turned back to the hall.

Margot glanced right, then left, and spotted another door up ahead on the right. Well, damn, another door had magically appeared. An uncomfortable flush warmed her as she took a step toward it. Another wave of longing tightened her belly. Strong fingers closed around her arm and yanked her back into the room. The door slammed shut with a crash and he shoved her against the hard wood. Margot yanked her gaze onto the stranger’s face. He stared down at her, the dark irises swirling as if a tornado raged in their depths. She sucked in a breath. Bayou magic, if ever she’d seen it.

A prickle dug into her flesh like tiny needles, but she kept her gaze locked with his. “I don’t take kindly to be accosted.” She tried stepping past him.

He shoved her back against the door. “Do no’ be a fool.”

“Not many folks call me a fool to my face.”

“If you answer his call, you will be a dead fool.”

She tensed, but said in her cool cop’s voice, “That sounds like a threat.”

“No threat. Fact.”

“I like threats even less than being accosted.”

His eyes darkened. “He shall not have another victim.”

He yanked her to him. His belt buckle dug into her stomach, but the pressure of his erection against her belly caught her attention. The need to impale herself on him halted the fist she had ready to punch his belly. Sweet Christ, it had been some time since she’d had a man, but had it been so long that the first hard cock to come along was enough to induce her to fuck a stranger?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed this chat.
Sir Talbot hails from the wonderful (and intense) world of “Claimed”, created by one of my favourite authors, Tarah Scott, to be released on March 27, 2015. This story will get 5 stars from me, review to follow.
Claimed-cover
Sometimes, the hero must be the villain…
Fourteen months ago, Lady Rhoslyn lost her husband and infant son to a fever. Now, by order of King Edward I, she is yanked from the healing tranquility of a convent to marry the king’s favored bastard knight. Rhoslyn has no intention of returning to the home where her husband and child died. Neither does she intend to hand over her fortune to the ‘Dragon’—no matter his sweet promises and warm kisses.
Talbot St. Claire tires of war. Seventeen years is enough. King Edward will never release him from service, but the king promises Talbot will find some peace in front of his own hearth. Talbot expects to find a horse-faced, hostile woman in the Scottish heiress Edward commands him to marry. Instead, he discovers a fiery Highland beauty worthy of a man’s respect…and love. Talbot determines to do anything to win his new bride’s acceptance. Anything except the one thing she demands: betray his king and embrace his Scottish heritage.
Grab a coffee and read on.
Do you have a nickname?
ROFL Thankfully, no! I have two author names (and a real life name). Anymore names, and I might truly become schizophrenic.
You are too funny Tarah!
What is one word best describes you?
Determined.
What makes you laugh out loud?
Life! Laughing is one of life’s greatest pleasures. I’m a clown at heart. Luckily, life is filled with many laughable moments, so I tend to get my laugh fix almost daily.
What is your favourite smell? What does it remind you of?
That’s tough. I have several scents I love. Freshly baked bread, pure, real vanilla, lilacs, to name a few. I have no special memories associated with the scents. They simply make me feel good.
Favourite place to spend time in.
Cozied up in bed watching a good movie.
Is there a genre that you refuse to read?
Heh heh. No! I read everything.
Writing! What started it?
A friend once told me that I didn’t choose writing. Writing chose me. When the stories finally started keeping me awake at night, I gave in and wrote that first scene. It was rough, very rough, but that, as they say, was all she wrote. Heh heh. I know, bad pun.
If you could choose another career what would it be?
Secret agent. Since I am incapable of choosing another career, I would be forced to take a career I write about.
Audiobooks! Any plans to have any of your books in audio format?
Yes. I have a producer working on that now. I’ll keep everyone updated.
That is awesome news!
Does your work convey a specific emotion or message?
The messages vary. I do believe in real love and I believe there are lots of men who aren’t afraid of love. Those types of men tend to show up as my heroes. A specific emotion? I hope my work conveys many different emotions.
Who is your intended audience and why should they read your books?
My intended audience is anyone who likes action packed love stories. From spies to courtesans, I write about men and women who aren’t afraid to live life.
What is next in your writing?
I’m currently working on The Highlander’s Courtesan, the second book in the MacLean Highlander novels. I’m also working on a paranormal Scottish medieval, Death Comes for a Knight. Look for that book this summer.
I am looking forward to reading them.
Thank  you so much Tarah for joining me in my chat room. I love your sense of humour.
My chat with Iain
Hello and welcome!
Today I have somebody I met quite a while ago and can’t forget.
*sigh*
He is quite a charmer and hails from the Highlands, he agreed to visit for a chat… and here he is.
Welcome Iain! Please have a seat!
he bows and takes a seat in the winged-back chair across from me …
wingback chair-white
and I serve him a glass of mead
How did you know?
I smile and wink
I have my sources
Lets get started…
he nods in agreement
What is your full name?
Iain MacPherson
Do you have a nickname?
Aye, the lady I kidnapped calls me Lord Keeper.
What is one word best describes you?
How can a man describe himself? You might ask those who best know me, my cousin Thomas, for example. Perhaps, ‘tis best, you do not ask the ladies.
Describe what you are wearing now to our readers.
A white lawn shirt with a belted plaide of my clan colors.
Do you think the author portrayed you accurately?
Aye, perhaps too well, which is not always to my credit.
What makes you laugh out loud?
When I leave a witty woman speechless.
What is your favourite dessert?
Of late, my favorite dessert is shortbread, uncooked, as the batter. The lady who I plan to marry threw a batch on me in a fit of anger. I was kind enough to share with her the batter than landed all over me.
What is your greatest fear?
That I will become my father.
What is your favourite colour?
The deep blue of loch Katrine which is the same color of the eyes that belong to the woman I love.
What do you wear when you go to sleep?
Nothing, if I can help it.
What is the perfect romantic date?
An afternoon in a meadow where I once spent a strange and wonderful afternoon with a woman.
How ticklish are you? Where are you ticklish?
Perhaps, but I willna’ say where.
What’s your favourite smell? What does it remind you of?
My favourite smell is heather on a spring morning.
When you look at a woman what catches your interest?
Her eyes.
Do you have somebody in your life now?
Aye, an English lass I stole from the holy ground of Montrose Abbey.
What is one word best describes her?
When I discover the one word that describes her I will tell you. She has no’ yet even told me her name.
Is your book part of a series? What does the future hold for the readers of the series?
The authoress is contemplating writing the story of my cousin, Captain Thomas MacPherson. His mother was French and his father a Highlander. The woman he married…well, I will leave that story for another time.
I really hope she does!
Thank you for making this long journey to join me and also for answering my questions.
he bows and smiles and has my heart melting… *sigh*
I hope you enjoyed this chat and thanks joining me here.
Iain hails from the Highlands and came to life under the pen of Tarah Scott whose style of writing I love so much. The book is called “LORD KEEPER”
LordKeeper_ByTarahScott200x300
and is available at all major ebook stores
Amazon US ~ Amazon CA ~ Amazon UK ~ B&N ~ ARe ~ Kobo ~
No man bargains for war when he chooses a bride, but when he steals her from holy ground, he can expect nothing less.
Iain MacPherson swore he was nothing like his father, but his kidnapping of Victoria Hockley, the Countess of Lansbury is the first step toward the same obsessive jealousy that fueled his father’s life-long feud against the chief Iain’s mother loved.
A kiss, a midnight race for freedom, and a royal missive force Victoria into her captor’s arms. Hallowed ground can’t save her from the devil that followed her from England. Yet the Scottish lord who swears to protect her is far more dangerous.
