He realizes things are done differently in the Dark Elven Kingdom, knows that they have a different code of ethics from what he was raised with, but he is determined to do things his way.

My Chat with Trinity, Arawn and Kane

Hello and welcome!

The guests I have today are out of this world. Read on!

 

Welcome! Welcome! Thank you for coming to chat with us today.

Tell us, how did you three meet?

ARAWN: Well, that’s an interesting story. he snickers The big guy and I, motions to Kane were signed up for more training on the island with Rekkus. We had just arrived and were getting debriefed about our schedule and accommodations, and BAM, this incredible lady came crashing into our lives.

Crashing? I ask with curiosity

TRINITY giggles Yeah, you had to be there, but it was definitely not one of my most graceful moments. But it was-uh… her cheeks flush bright red … memorable!

KANE: Sadly, I wasn’t in the line of fire, this big lug got all the excitement! grumbles as he flashes a slighted grin

TRINITY: Hey! slaps Kane’s thigh don’t forget the Elysian Fields, you had your own crash landing there, twice! Not to mention, our little game on the floor that one night with the three of us…

KANE clears his throat and nods. Kane untucks his t-shirt and pulls it over his zipper as he shifts in his seat. Good times, beautiful… grins, then shakes his head Uh, what were we talking about? stares wide-eyed at me

I chuckle You three seem pretty close. Tell us a little about yourselves?

TRINITY: Well, I was having a tough time, and the Rowan siblings made a generous offer to host me for a week on the island. You see, I’m grief therapist, and a Banshee, with a twist. I had recently suffered a loss of family, and my heritage turned out to be a bit of a surprise for me. I was going through a rough time and they offered to help me through it.

How?

TRINITY: Well, for starters, they gave me a pair of enchanted glasses.

What for?

TRINITY: I see auras, and I was getting a little overwhelmed, the glasses were able to mute some of the stimuli to give me a break.

Did they work?

TRINITY: For a short time, but other issues arose quickly.

What else did the Rowans’ do to help you?

Trinity holds both Kane and Arawn’s hands. More than I can put into words at the moment.

ARAWN: Trinity was being targeted, the Rowan’s assigned us to keep her safe, and offered some different therapies on the island to help her out.

That sounds terrifying, why was she being targeted?

TRINITY: It’s really a great deal to get into in such a short interview. Let’s just say, I learned a lot about myself that week.

Interesting. How about you, Arawn?

ARAWN: Me? he scraped his chin with his fingertips and deliberates I’m on the Para Elite Forces with Kane here. We’ve been best friends for as long as I can remember.

KANE: I owe Arawn my life, instead, he settled for the brother he never had. Kane winks at Arawn. We joined the Para Elite Forces together, because protecting the innocent is the most important thing in the world to us.

ARAWN: And in the Underworld. he grimaces and rubs his chest

Underworld? Are you Arawn of Annwn, the Immortal?

ARAWN: Yeah, that’s me. I abdicated my claim to the throne, and since then, we’ve been fighting the good fight. Turned out to be the best decision of our lives, because it brought us face to face with this incredible woman. he lifts Trinity’s hand to his lips and kisses the inside of her wrist with affection

KANE: You make an excellent point, old friend. Kane does the same with her other hand

And, Kane, are you Immortal, as well?

KANE: I’m uh…a shifter. Can we skip this question please? presses his lips tight and flexes his jaw muscles

Of course, moving on. I smile I see hints of some impressive ink hiding behind that collar, Arawn. Care to give us a peek at your tattoos?

ARWAN:  I—uh… he tucks his chin down and shakes his head

KANE utters a soft growl

Two for two, I appear to be making you both uncomfortable with some of my questions. Apologies, gentlemen.

TRINITY: Don’t stress about it hunny. Arawn doesn’t like to take his shirt off. pats his knee and flashes a tender smile And Kane is a little shy. He’s still cautious about people seeing both sides of who he is. So selective reveals are few and far between.

I understand. Does that mean you have you seen their tattoos?

TRINITY: Oh, yes, up close and personal. I will tell you, both of them have exquisite canvasses of inked eye candy, and it’s more than just show, it’s meaningful.

Lucky girl. I pout

TRINITY: I most certainly am.

What really pushes your buttons?

KANE: Now that’s a loaded question! he steels his back and lets out a low grown For me, I’d have to say, evil actions against innocents. I can’t stand the smell of evil. The sight of malicious beings enrages me, it makes me lose control—I don’t want to get into it. he folds his arms across his chest

TRINITY: It’s okay, everything is fine now. gently caresses his shoulder

ARAWN: I second that. Malevolent beings with a sense of entitlement to harm anyone they wish in order to achieve their own goals of power and acquisition. Those who prey on what they perceive to be weakness, when in fact, they work so hard to cover up their own inferiority.

TRINITY pauses as she ponders the question Pretty thought-provoking question. I’d have to say, those who torture innocent children that have nothing to do with the problem at hand. And family secrets that haunt generations to come.

Sounds like you all need to relax a bit. Any ideas on how to go about that?

ALL THREE RESPOND SIMULTANEOUSLY: The Hot Springs!

TRINITY cups her hand over her mouth to stifle a giggle A nice warm dip, for sure.

ARAWN: Don’t you mean skinny—

TRINITY: Be quiet! she slaps his arm in protest

KANE squirms in his seat Are we finished yet? I feel the need for a swim now, thanks a lot!

What is your biggest fear?

TRINITY: My biggest fear is the uprising against the Syndicate. There are a great many paras on their radar, and after what I’ve seen and experienced…

ARAWN: Never again, Princess, you have our word.

KANE: Agreed, with every last drop of blood that courses through our veins, you will be kept safe from harm.

TRINITY: That’s one thing, I’m absolutely sure of. she says as she leans over to her right side and kisses Kane on the cheek, then to the left and does the same to Arawn.

Welcome back to the Wiccan Haus. Where the staff have some unusual quirks and the herbal tea is sometimes more than you bargain for. The proprietors always do their best to make the resort a place of healing and peace. It’s also a place some never want to leave!

Excerpt

With a deep breath and her Wiccan Haus charm in hand, Trinity folded her completed checklist for items to pack and shoved it into her pocket. She clutched the handle of her suitcase and mustered the courage to step into the portal.
In a flash, lights swirled around her, the sensation of gravity dissipated, her body lightened, and her limbs lingered in the air. She floated up, twisted, and spun on the spot. A faint, but deep voice echoed in the distance, “Incoming.”
In the blink of an eye, she bounced through the end of the portal, crashing into three large, burly men and toppling over a dark-haired stranger.
“Whoa!” He stopped their rolling together and landed on his back. Heated hands gripped her sides as she came to rest on top of his rock solid-chest, face to face. He chuckled. “You okay, princess?”
The sweetness of his warm breath brushed her lips and tingles of electricity ran over her sides where his hands held her steady. A delectable aroma of amber and patchouli wafted past her nose. Trinity leaned closer to his neck and inhaled then jerked. Lost in the depths of his dark eyes and chiseled features. His stare penetrated her and his touch stirred something deep inside. “I’m…oh, my….” She bit her lip.
“Are you hurt?” He frowned.
“No.” She rested her palms on his hard chest. But I don’t think I would notice if I was. My word, you’re handsome. A warmth curled around her spine, followed by giddy tickles in her tummy. Her body responded to the contact and lulled her other senses. In the next instant, she snapped out of her lustful daze with dread. “I’m so sorry,” she sucked in a sharp inhale and eased herself to sit up.
His hands settled on her hips. “I’m not.”
Trinity slammed her eyes shut, her cheeks burned with embarrassment at the sudden realization she now straddled the stranger she had just tackled to the ground. “By the gods, please tell me this did not just happen.” She slung her leg over to kneel on the floor and scrambled to get up. Another set of heated hands gripped her under the arms and lifted her to her feet.
“You landed pretty hard, are you sure you didn’t get hurt?” A second hunk straightened her glasses and brushed her shoulder off.
“I had a cushion to break my fall,” she simpered. Trinity smoothed back her hair to find the tight bun she had slicked her mane into had loosened and stray strands of hair littered her vision. She brushed away the rogue locks, and her breath hitched as her focus landed on another delectable vision.

I had a chance to read the ARC and they are oh so yummy. Their story starts with a crash, as Arawn mentioned, and it speeds up from there with suspense, humour, a few ‘oh my’ moments and some ‘oh yum! I want to be her’ moments too. LOVED IT! I loved them both, but I think Kane is my fave of the two hunks, but I wouldn’t mind switching places with Trinity… at all 😉

Do you have a nickname?
Gentlemen do not have nicknames. We go by our titles: Belgrave. sighs, frowning Although, Belle, my heroine, once called me ‘dear husband’, but I don’t think she meant it as the sweet term of endearment such a term would suggest.

What is one word best describes you?
Charming.

Describe what you are wearing now to our readers.
Wearing? Only females discuss such claptrap. But, if you must know I’m clad in only my crimson dressing gown—Rose promised if I’d cooperate and just do this blasted interview that she’d add another bedroom scene to my book! he grins wolfishly Had I know those were the stakes, I might have held out another day to see what I could squeeze out of her…

Rose: Watch yourself, now.

Do you think the author portrayed you accurately?
No. I’m far more dashing than she describes.

What makes you laugh out loud?
My wife. From her candid statements to the awkward situations she gets herself into.  Just like the authoress herself…

What is your favourite dessert?
Custard. Is there another choice?

What is your favourite drink?
clenches jaw Lemonade. Weak yes, but I made the worst decision of my life after overindulging on whiskey. 

What is your greatest fear?
Losing my wife. Again.

What is your favourite colour?
Black.

What do you wear when you go to sleep?
What does almost every man in my time wear to bed: nary a stitch. Which, by the way, if this interview is over I’d like to go find mine and get down to busine—

What is the perfect romantic date?
sighs and throws a hand up in resignation of more questions Anything that doesn’t involve stuffy ballrooms, swooning debutantes, matchmaking mamas, and awful music. Oh, and no family secret revelations. The former are annoying, the latter is just unbearable.

How ticklish are you? Where are you ticklish?
Would any gentleman admit he’s ticklish?

What’s your favourite smell? What does it remind you of?
Lavender. My wife wears it. Speaking of…

When you look at a woman what catches your interest?
Considering I hauled the wrong young lady to Scotland when I was nineteen, I always look at her face.

Do you have somebody in your life now?
Yes, the same wrong-right frowns or maybe that’s right-wrong young lady I hauled off to Scotland. rakes a hand through his hair It’s a long story. One that doesn’t paint me in the most favorable light, I’m afraid. I thought I was running away with one young lady, but I ended up with the wrong one: her sister. Only, in the end it turned out that I did grab the right one. 

What is one word best describes her?
Perfect.

Is your book part of a series? What does the future hold for the readers of the series?
My book is the first of three. The second book, Desires of a Baron, is about my closest friend. The third book, Passions of a Gentleman, coming soon, is about my friend’s brother who was also my competition for my wife’s attention when she didn’t know she was still my wife. Again, another long story I’m not completely proud of the details of.

My Chat with Samson and Ivan

Let me introduce to you the newest Divine hunks!

Samson Cutter, late 40s

Occupation: Emergency Services Dispatcher (911 operator). He served as an MP in the Army, and then as a police officer in Morehead, before being injured in the line of duty put him in the desk job. He’s also a Dominant at Hazelle House, an exclusive BDSM club in Morehead. He’s very popular among the masochists and submissives… now he just needs the right one to satisfy his darker cravings and lonely night.

Samson’s Favorites:

Food: Steak and baked potato, with a salad alongside it. Maybe. Ivan also makes a crawfish etouffee that he wouldn’t pass up.

Color: Red

Books: Classic sci-fi, like Ray Bradbury, Jules Verne,  Robert Heinlein, and also some Michael Crichton.

Movies: the classic sci-fi action movies like Terminator, Alien, Predator

Band: AC/DC – I don’t “get” a lot of the tunes Joseph plays on the sound system at Hazelle House and I’m usually so busy I tune them out anyway. I like classic rock.

What is your most cherished possession? By this question I assume you mean inanimate objects. I try not to get too hung up on possessions but if pressed I’d have to say my impact toy collection, mainly whips that I’m especially fond of using, and my book collection.

How do you feel about being the center of attention? I don’t mind it. I like being in a leadership role which often means having eyes on me. At the club, I don’t generally notice, especially during scenes. My focus needs to remain on whoever I’m working with. I take that responsibility seriously.

What makes you blush? Compliments… and questions about what kind of underwear I prefer to wear.

What makes you laugh out loud? The stuff Bunny says to Joseph at Hazelle House just to see how he reacts, usually with a ball gag and a paddle… or orgasm torture if she’s especially naughty.

How do you feel, generally, about the opposite sex? Unworthy, and I mean that in the larger sense and not as a lack on my part. I grew up with loving parents and in general I love the fairer sex. I think they’re stronger than men in almost every way except for possibly the physical sense…but then I think of them giving birth and yeah, nope. They’re stronger all the way around.

What is your worst habit? Not going to the gym more. And maybe cussing.

Do you have any irrational fears or phobias? Heights really bug me.

How do you think your exes would describe you? Distant, maybe? I think in the back of my mind I was holding out because no one compared to Cassie.

How deeply does your job / social role define you as a person? To a high degree. I like being in a position of leadership and direction, whether it’s on the job or at the BDSM club. People rely on me and I enjoy that role.

What are you the most hopeless at? Small talk. I hate wasting time with chit-chat. I prefer action to talking.

What would you never do, no matter the price? Cheat in a committed relationship. In my line of work in both the military and as a police officer I’ve seen a lot of it, as well as the consequences and the collateral damage.

Ivan Cutter, late 40s

Occupation: Executive Chef at Hermione in Morehead, Texas. He had dreams of attending college on a football scholarship but those were dashed when he was injured his senior year. His knee injury also kept him from his Plan B which was to serve in the Army along with Samson so he went to school and became a chef. He worked for Texas’ most mercurial and demanding restaurateur, Hermione Jones, creating great meals, feeding lots of people, and enjoying life…and then a gorgeous brunette from his past came back into his life.

Ivan’s Favorites:

Food: Any kind of food if it’s well prepared. I have a special place in his heart for a good spicy shrimp/crab/craw fish boil eaten outdoors with an ice cold beer.

Color: Green and blue

Book: Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and sci-fi fantasy graphic novels. Oh, and Shakespeare.

Movie: See above translated into movie form.

All-time Favorite Singer: Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble

Song: I love too many songs to have a favorite. Top three: “Pride and Joy” by Stevie Ray Vaughan; “Stuck On You” by Sugarland; and “When a Man Loves a Woman” by Percy Sledge.

Quote: “If you can’t stand the heat get out of the kitchen,” from Harry Truman,  and from Shakespeare, “When I saw you I fell in love, and you smiled because you knew.” I always thought that last one was pretty romantic.

TV Show: I work so many nights I don’t have any favorite television shows, although I was a big fan of “Dirty Jobs” and “Friends” which I can usually find late night on reruns somewhere on satellite.

What is your most cherished possession? My knife collection and my cookbook collection.

How do you feel about being the center of attention? Love it!

What makes you blush? Nothing, honey. That’s just the heat from my Viking stove.

How do you feel, generally, about the opposite sex? Love them. LOVE THEM. Especially this gorgeous brunette I knew in high school. Man, she was an angel. Too bad she wound up with a total dickhead who didn’t deserve to kiss the soles of her feet.

What is your worst habit? I’m bad about forgetting to return calls. I tend to procrastinate. Oh, and I suck at parking.

Do you have any irrational fears or phobias? Clothes shopping.

How do you think your exes would describe you? Too committed to my career and the long hours restaurants keep. And when I’m not cooking I’m talking about cooking…or thinking about cooking.

How deeply does your job / social role define you as a person? Deeply. I want to feed everyone. It’s genetic. My mom is the same way.

What’s your favorite smell? Remember that brunette I mentioned earlier? She owns a coffee shop and bakery in Divine, and a friend of mine brought me one of her fancy cupcakes in a gift box. I opened that box and this heavenly aroma of vanilla bean, hazelnut, and some exotic spice… My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Now I associate that smell with my memories of her.

What are you the most hopeless at? Understanding women. I think I need a woman who likes to cook as much as I do and then we might understand each other.

What would you never do, no matter the price? Bungee jumping. And cheating in a relationship. Never gonna happen, either one.

“Whatever you do, Samson, don’t give her the steely-eyed dominant stare. And what are you? A nervous thirteen-year-old girl calling her BFF for pointers on how to act around the boy she likes?”

Samson had called Ivan while waiting for Joseph and Bunny’s wedding to get started to let him know Cassie was in attendance. Samson watched as the woman of their dreams entered the hallway outside the suite Bunny had been holed up in for the last two hours.

Samson scowled at his phone and then put it back to his ear. Chuckling silently, Jack Warner looked over at him and lifted his chin inquiringly at the phone. Samson shook his head and looked down at the floor. “Lower your voice, man. I just wanted you to know she was here. I guess she’s one of Bunny’s bridesmaids or attendants. I didn’t know they were that close. Shit.” He wasn’t smooth like his brother, and the first thing he’d thought when he’d laid eyes on her was to call Ivan.

“When you get a chance, just slide on up to her and start a conversation with her. Don’t give her the stare.”

“What stare?”

“The one you give people who you want to do your bidding. Probably the same one you use when you want to beat on one of your poor masochists.”

“They’re not my ‘poor masochists,’ fucker,” he ground out as he walked a short distance down the hallway. “I only give them what they need, and I would think you’d know that by now since you know how to use Google. I’m not a monster.” Jack snorted in amusement and Samson stepped farther down the hall.

Ivan’s chuckle on the other end made him grind his teeth. “No, you’re a big squeez-y teddy bear. You got all that growling out of your system now? Take a deep breath and…just smile at her. Offer to get her a glass of champagne. Dance with her. Don’t say anything about the past, and for fuck’s sake, don’t tell her you like to spank naughty girls.”

Samson grinned, imaging for a split second how her lush bare butt cheek would feel under his hand. “At least not yet.”

“Just never in front of me, okay?”

“She’s in a mansion housing a BDSM club, and she’s friends with several subs. I think they’ve talked. So it shouldn’t come as any big surprise to her. Fine, I won’t say anything about my sadistic tendencies, okay?”

“And I wouldn’t say anything about attending the class reunion. Just let her be surprised.”

“I wasn’t going to since you need to be with us before I say anything about…you know.”

“Right. So just establish you’re the nice guy she remembers and you’re still single. And try not to give her the impression she’s in your sights.”

“Our sights.”

“Whatever. I’m not getting my hopes up until I get a green light from her. I have to go. My ganache is thickening.”

Gazing at her delicious form from the rear, he admired the sensual sway of her hips and the graceful curve of her bare back and neck as she moved past a window. “That’s not the only thing thickening. Later.”

“Pervert.”

My Chat with Becca… aka Techno Bunny :D

Hello and welcome!

Today I have a young woman who I admire a lot for many reasons, which you will discover by reading the chat. I had the pleasure to meet her in person last summer and she is a firecracker 😀

 

She recently opened her own book formatting company, Perfect Pages and I wanted to help spread the word because I know she is a professional that any author would love to have on their side.

Do you have a nickname?
I have several. Some of my family calls me the Techno Bunny because I seem to be one of the only people that has an aptitude for technology. I am also Becca Bunny, ChewBecca and BA-CAA (said like a chicken).

What is one word best describes you?
Stubborn
LOL that seems to be a family trait 😀

What makes you laugh out loud?
The things that come out of my kidlettes mouth or my husbands. Sometimes they just say the weirdest things.

I run a group home for Adults with Developmental Delays. I laugh at work so often. I can’t actually share any stories due to confidentiality clauses but I can tell you the things that come out of my mouth and the things they say sometimes just make me stop and laugh hysterically. Where else can you go to work where you say the words “Put the staff down and please stop bench pressing them”?

What is your favourite smell? What does it remind you of?
I love the smell of rain. It is just a comforting smell to me and I love thunderstorms. You can usually find me out on my covered porch during a thunderstorm just watching it.

Favourite place to spend time in.
It is a toss up. My jetted tub with a book, my “Art Dungeon” painting or working on a craft .. or my basement video game area killing zombies. Depends on the mood I am in.

Is there a genre that you refuse to read?
No. Books and reading to me is all about what grabs me and interests me. I have to like the story or the characters or both. There have been times where I have stopped reading due to a character that I just can’t stand reading anymore.

Book formatting! What started it?
I guess that is a two part answer.

1. My Graphic Design degree. While doing my degree I found out that I excel at and love a portion of it called Pre Press. Basically setting up files, making sure files work, they are clean (nothing left floating around and hidden), checking on fonts, making sure they are embedded in the files. Because so much of Art is subjective I found that I like the right and wrong portion of Graphic Design… the technical part, building files and coding portions.

2. My Aunt. We found out she had a hoard of books in her room that she had written over the years. She didn’t think they were good enough to publish and didn’t know how to.

Once I convinced her to actually take that step and publish … it was a whirlwind. I had to take what I knew from Graphic Design and apply it to building eBook files. It has definitely been a learning experience and she keeps me busy!
I am glad you found them and I am honored to be part of the journey from the beginning.

What do you like most about your work?
I love the right and wrong. Either your files are right … or they are wrong. They work and pass the premium checks or they don’t. It is like … playing with lego for adults. All tiny little building pieces that come together to make a final project. If one piece doesn’t work, the whole project is wrong.

I love working on my own, blaring my music, watching a documentary and just .. being in my own world while I format. The files almost seem to speak to me when I hit my zone.

What are, if any, the pet peeves in formatting a book?
When an author sends me a book they say is ready to be formatted, I do the work and then I get a new file because something was changed.

When there is pre-formatting it bugs me too, it just takes that much longer to remove formatting and start again.

I designed a few books for print, but I don’t know anything about formatting an ebook. I think it would be great if you could give a short description of what are the steps in formatting a book.
I start with a Word document. All of the pre-set formatting from the authors computer is removed and I start rebuilding the file. In order to publish these books and have them pass to the Premium Distribution Channels, there is a very strict set of rules that have to be adhered to – if anything is off then it will not pass.

The fonts are changed so they can be read by the eBook devices (eBook websites and devices will only read a select number of fonts). Because almost every app lets the reader choose their font sizes and sometimes they can change the font, the information in the file must remain the same throughout the file so it can be changed by the end user. This means you don’t have multiple fonts, you don’t have multiple sizes unless it is a specified header.

The spacing is set up to reflect the standards. This means removing all enter/returns from the file, adding in single spacing for the lines, custom spacing after paragraphs, removing all tabs.

eBooks files will show up differently in every reader. The app or reader will take the information that is built into the eBook file and interpret it to show in the manner it needs to. On some apps there will be a tab present, on others there won’t be one.
Because the information is read differently for every app, when formatting you don’t formatting to a specific device.

There are some other file related things, but I won’t get into it. Don’t want to give up all of my secrets 😉

Once the files are done they are uploaded to the websites, converted and then I test them. Kobo, Kindle, iBooks, Adobe Digital Editions all tested on a computer, an Android Device and an iPad. I increase the font, decrease the fonts, change the fonts, test it vertically, test it horizontally, try out all of the links.

If everything passes my testing then ISBN’s are added to the books and I tell the websites (Smashwords/Amazon) to run their own personal checks on the files. If the files pass their formatting standards, they are added to the Premium Distribution Channels or they become live on the websites to sell!

Like I said .. like playing with Lego. Lots of small pieces to build a bigger project.

Do you have any other interesting hobbies or maybe a fun story about an experience involving your work?
I don’t know if it is interesting or not but I am an avid crafter. I paint, scrapbook, sew, knit, crochet and make chainmaille with my husband. Yes .. like suits of armour for knights. We do that as well as the modern day spins on it like jewelry.
I love my chainmaille red & silver dragon 😀 and so does my son!

I also design and sell t-shirts and other merchandise online.

I also have a sick twisted addiction to playing Zombie based video games on my PS4.

If you could choose another career what would it be?
I have the best of both worlds actually because I get to work in two fields that I love. Because formatting is a solo type of work and can be fit in around other things in my life (Kidlette and Husband and Fur Baby come first), it is my second job/career.

I currently work full time running a house for Adults with Developmental delays. It is honestly one of my passions in life. I love working with my guys. I have 3 gentlemen that live in the house that I manage. I am suppose to be there to teach them things in life, but in the end a lot of the time they teach me.

Two of my guys are extremely hard of hearing boarding on deaf. I have had the opportunity to learn ASL because of this and the opportunity to see a whole new type of communication. This allows me to use my Graphic Design background as well because my clients are so visual I have to make custom communication tools for them that are on their level of cognitive understanding.

I get to see everyday how other people view the world and what is really important to people on a basic fundamental level. It is really a blessing that I have been able to balance two careers I love in two completely different fields that seem to actually complement each other.
