My Chat with Cailean!

Hello and welcome!

I met my next guest a few days ago and …. Just keep reading 😉

Welcome! Welcome!
where is my ice bucket?  … he is soooo… YUM

What is your full name?
Cailean Ross

Do you have a nickname?
Cailean the Champ. The by-name hails from my champion knight status on the tournament and Highland Games circuit, namely the hugely popular Heatheredge Gathering in Scotland’s far north.

What is one word best describes you?

Describe what you are wearing now to our readers.
Aye, well… As you’ve caught me at the start of EDGE OF YESTERDAY, I’m in my most resplendent medieval reenactor gear. I was just heading for the joust, so I’m mailed, plated, and helmed in shining armor. As I’m proud to be a Scot, I’ve also slung my Ross plaid about my shoulders. And, of course, I’m carrying my trusty sword, Triumph.

I dinnae like to boast, but I’ve been drawing the eyes of the ladies here at the Gathering. A shame none of them appeal to me, lovely as they all are. I’d rather have a fine and braw medieval lass, but they are thin on the ground in modern-day Scotland.

Do you think the authors portrayed you accurately?
He grins For the most part, aye. It wasnae always easy accepting the mores and such of medieval Scotland – after all, how many men these days have an overlord who pretty much rules everything ye do? Good thing I liked and respected the one the authors chose for me. Otherwise, I might have walked off the page.

So, aye, Tarah and Sue-Ellen did me proud. Their pens gave me my head for the most part, with them just following along, scribbling away as I went about my business.

If I could change anything, I’d request potatoes in the story. Damn, I missed my tatties! But spuds didn’t exist in medieval Scotland, and so… I did without.

What makes you laugh out loud?
My lady’s brother asking if I can sit a horse or swing a sword. He chuckles shaking his head He only asked once.

What is your favourite dessert?
Millionaire Shortbread, which sadly also doesnae exist in medieval Scotland.
I have to search that... searching on the weboh they look yummy

What is your favourite drink?
Anything but medieval cider. He shudders
I remember your first experience with cider 😀

What is your greatest fear?
Now he really laughs I would say my mother-in-law, but as she is indeed a formidable and very powerful woman, I’ll no’ risk her seeing this interview and getting annoyed. I’d like to keep my head on my shoulders.

What is your favourite colour?
The shining silver steel of my sword.

What do you wear when you go to sleep?
Cold Highland air and my lady’s attentions.

What is the perfect romantic date?
Aye, well… I wouldn’t mind taking my love, Lady Julianna, to modern-day Heatheredge for a pub lunch at the town’s cozy tavern. Then I’d drive her north to Durness on Scotland’s rugged northern coast for a few days of long walks across the beaches and cliffs there. Privacy with her, see you? There is no’ much of that in medieval Scotland.

How ticklish are you? Where are you ticklish?
A champion knight is ne’er ticklish, lass. No’ in this time, nor in the auld days.

What’s your favourite smell? What does it remind you of?
Peat smoke on a chill autumn day. And if I have to tell you what it reminds me of, you’ve never been to the Highlands.
Unfortunately I have not, but it is on my bucket list.

When you look at a woman what catches your interest?
Hey, her looks. I’m a man, after all. But what really matters, what keeps me looking, is what comes out of her mouth. It’s a strong and smart woman that fires my blood. I’m blessed to have just such a spitfire in my beloved Julianna. She’s smart as a whip and bold as they come. God, I love her!

Do you have somebody in your life now?
I sure do. My lady wife, Julianna. Though, in truth, I don’t have her quite yet. As I understand this romance-novel-hero deal, you readers have to first read my book before I can truly claim her. We have to reach our happy-ever-after ending and all – and do so in public! Before readers’ eyes. I did have a chuckle at that part, you were quite embarrassed 😀

Did you hear that? I don’t think that is really fair. I want her now, see you? So get reading, lassies! Grab a copy of EDGE OF YESTERDAY, read on, love the book, and make me a happy man.

What is one word best describes her?

Is your book part of a series? What does the future hold for the readers of the series?
Aye, EDGE OF YESTERDAY is book one of Tarah Scott’s and Sue-Ellen Welfonder’s co-authored EDGE series. These are Scottish time travel romances. There will be lots more “EDGE OF..” books coming, so readers can get ready to spend lots of exciting times in Heatheredge, Scotland, the fictitious Highland setting of the series.

I’ll add that the location is based on a real place known to the authors. I’ll also vouch that readers will enjoy their time there. After all, how can they not when I’ll be there to greet them?

I sure did enjoy myself. Thank you Cailean for chatting with me, say hello to Lady Julianna for me.

Now, thank you for having me, dear lady. It’s been good to have a blether with ye, as we Scots say. But I need to get back to my Julianna now. She knows I love her, but she might no’ like me spending too much time with all your lovely modern-day lady readers.

So I’m away… See you at the Edge, ladies!

Thank you for joining us and I hope your had fun, I know I did 😉

As Cailean mentioned he hails from book 1 of the Edge Series, Edge of Yesterday by two amazing authors, Tarah Scott and Sue-Ellen Welfonder.

Edge series-banner.jpg

Two of Scottish romance’s most loved authors have joined pens to write a thrilling new time travel series filled with passion, danger, and intrigue. These never-before-published novels will sweep you to Scotland’s Highland Heatheredge, where magic is real, time is relevant, and there is no escape from desire…

Men are disappearing in the Highland crofting village of Heatheredge. The authorities suspect foul play, but without signs of violence—or bodies—they can’t prove a thing.

World champion swordsman Cailean Ross is living the fantasy of a lifetime as the victor of Heatheredge’s medieval reenactment Gathering. But when the fantasy turns into reality, swordplay becomes a fight to the death and he finds himself among the ‘missing’ statistics.

Julianna Mackay flees a man she fears is an evil wizard and literally runs into handsome Cailean Ross. Cailean defends Lady Julianna from her attackers. Together, they set out in search of the key to a six-hundred-year-old curse that can only be broken in medieval Scotland.

When the veil of time is lifted, Cailean and Julianna find that love may not be enough to save them or those they hold dear.

“Is my company so abhorrent that you must flee?” she asked.

“On the contrary your company is too pleasing.”

She dropped her gaze in a clear attempt to hide her expression but Cailean could see she was pleased.

“Then stay,” she said.

“If your brother catches me here, he will try to kill me.”

She snorted. “Lennox knows I am a woman grown, and I am no maiden. I can do as I please.”

“That doesnae mean he would want me dallying with you.”

“Dallying?” She lifted her brows. “Ye think well of yourself, sir.”

“Dallying isn’t what ye had in mind?” he asked.

Her eyes darkened. Yes, this woman was trouble. She started toward him. He straightened from the wall and remained perfectly still until she stopped in front of him.

“I am no idiot,” she said. “I have seen the way you look at me.”

Trouble, trouble, trouble.

But he wasn’t going to take the bait. He stared but said nothing.

“Ye find me pleasing to look upon,” she said.

“I have eyes,” he said, then cursed his tongue. Give the woman inch and she would take a mile.

She stepped closer and before he could move she placed her hands on his chest. “You want to know what it is like to kiss me.”

It wasn’t a question.

She slid her hands up his chest and over his shoulders, her fingers brushed his flesh and tickled the sensitive hair at the back of his neck. His cock began to lengthen.

“Julianna,” he said, but she was pulling his head down.

Their lips touched and Cailean felt his surroundings slip away. Her mouth, warm and soft, melted beneath his. Her breath was sweet with the taste of rosemary and mint. Lightly, her tongue flicked at his lips. Cailean sucked her tongue into his mouth. She pressed close and her hard nipples poked into him. Cailean gripped her shoulders and crushed her to him. Julianna speared the fingers of one hand into his hair and tugged as she nipped at his lips. Heat flashed through him. She abruptly pulled back and Cailean jarred. Julianna backed him toward the bed. Leaving would have been the better part of valor. But a kiss or two wouldn’t hurt…

“Your brother will never forgive me,” he said.

“Then we willnae tell him.”

The backs of his legs bumped the wood frame of the bed and he fell onto his arse. His cock jerked when she knelt in front of him. Sweet God, she wasn’t going to… She kept her eyes on his face as she reached toward his…belt. Laughter appeared in her eyes as she unbuckled his sword belt. The woman was a tease—and knew it. She grasped the sword and pulled the belt from around him, buckled it, then hung it over the small post at the foot of the bed. Julianna rose, hiked up her dress, and straddled his lap. She reached beneath her skirt and shoved his kilt up to his waist. He held his breath as her velvety soft skin made contact with his thighs.

“God have mercy,” he breathed, and she laughed as her mouth descended onto his.

Cailean kissed her back and wondered if he’d ever truly kissed a woman before today. He’d known beautiful women, had cared for one or two, but Julianna took his breath away.

Her soft belly bumped his engorged cock and a spasm of pleasure pulled his bollocks so tight he grimaced in discomfort. Bloody hell, he wanted the woman. Her mouth moved on his and this time she sucked his tongue into her mouth. Cailean grasped the hairnet she wore and pulled it from her hair. Two long braids tumbled free. He took one braid and worked it loose until the thick tresses filled his hand. He drew a fistful of the hair to his nose and breathed deep.

She began to rock her mons against his erection. He drew a sharp breath when her soft curls tickled the underside of his cock and bollocks. Cailean gritted his teeth against the compulsion to orgasm. He hadn’t embarrassed himself in that way since he’d been a lad of nineteen. He broke the kiss, then tugged down a sleeve of her dress and revealed one perfect breast with a light pink areola. He ducked his head and took the nipple in his mouth. Her skin tasted slightly salty and felt like velvet. He flicked the nipple with his tongue. She gasped and rocked harder. Each bump against his member sent pleasure rocketing through him. She hadn’t lied when she said she was no maiden. The woman knew what she wanted—and he liked that. So much for the submissive wilting medieval woman.

Cailean twisted and rolled Julianna onto her back. He shoved his hands beneath her arse and scooted her fully onto the bed. Her loosened hair framed her face like spun gold. Cailean brushed his lips against hers. She stilled and satisfaction shot through him. She wasn’t afraid to ask for what she wanted, but she hadn’t expected tenderness…and maybe a little more?

He kissed her again and covered a breast with his palm. Julianna slid her arms around him and hugged him close. Cailean gently rocked against her. It would take every ounce of determination he had not to come before he pleased her, but he would do it. She arched her hips. What would she do if he slipped a finger into her wet heat? His heart pounded. God help him, if he touched her sex he might not be able to keep from driving inside her like a beast.

My thoughts – 5 stars
To the authors: I haven’t done any cleaning and is all your fault 😛

I couldn’t stop reading, I could not put it down, the whole time I was in suspense waiting to see what happens next, loved the buildup, the story is amazing. The characters mesh well, loved the interactions between Cailean and Julianna. Made me laugh thought how long it took Cailean to realize he was not in his time anymore, it created quite a few interesting moments for him. The ending was surprising… a good one, I promise 😉

5 – The Scrolls of Cridhe, Vol. 2 – My Chat with Gunnar

Hello and welcome!

My next guest, also from the “Highland Flames” anthology, is a yummy Highlander with Viking blood in his veins YUM

Read on and find out what his answers are…

Welcome! Welcome!

What is your full name?
Gunnar MacLeod

Do you have a nickname?
Nae, though my lady wife calls me her ‘Lord of Winter’ now and then. I believe she only does so when she feels a need to flatter me. Gunnar leans in, lowering his voice, You didnae hear me say that, lass.

What is one word best describes you?

Describe what you are wearing now to our readers.
He’s glancing down, then returns his gaze to me ‘Tis a certain silver wolf cloak. I’ve a mail shirt beneath it, newly polished. My sword, a war ax, and a few silver arm rings as adornment. Likewise the Thor’s hammer amulet that aye hangs around my neck.

If you fine lasses glance again at the ‘nickname’ question, you’ll ken why I’m garbed this way.

Do you think the author portrayed you accurately?
She did. If she was a bit hard on me at the beginning, I cannae blame her. She knew I had good reason for certain things in my past. Off the page, she sympathized more than once. I understood she had to let Katla think the worst of me. For a while, anyway.

What makes you laugh out loud?
I shouldnae even breathe this, much less say it aloud – doing so might see me turned into a toad…

But there’s a certain crone who meddles her way through all my lady scribe’s tomes. A tiny old woman who ties her boots with red plaid laces. Devorgilla is her name, and what makes me laugh, is the look on Duncan MacKenzie’s face whenever she appears on the same book page he’s on.

For such a great man as the Black Stag of Kintail, you’d think he wouldn’t even blink just because a wee crone wanders into the ink. But he does. I suspect his reaction to Devorgilla amuses my lady scribe, too. It’s probably why she sends her after him at least once in every book.

What is your favourite dessert?
Can I say snowflakes that land on my lady’s cheeks? Her lips? Ladies, you should have seen the wicked gleam in his eyes when he said that!

What is your favourite drink?
Mead. I enjoy it most when drinking from a silver-rimmed mead horn that belonged to my g-g-g-g-grandfather.

What is your greatest fear?
Eniko, lass, did someone forget to tell ye I’m a MacLeod? I have Highland and Viking blood in my veins. That’s your answer. Yikes! I will not describe how he just sat there looking at me before he answered.

What is your favourite colour?
The pristine blue-white of frost and snow. Add cold wind and a clear and starry winter night, and I’m a happy man. Especially with my lady wife at my side.

What do you wear when you go to sleep?
He leans back, smiling wickedly again. I’m giving you the same answer as my friend, Gare, from The Taming of Mairi MacKenzie, Return to Kintail, Book I, in Highland Winds. I’m a Highlander. We need only cold night air and a hot-blooded woman to keep us comfortable in our beds. Aye, that means we sleep naked.

What is the perfect romantic date?
Visiting a certain very special place with my Katla. My lady scribe has made me vow under threat of an evil eye no’ to create a ‘spoiler’ by naming the place. I’d have told you myself. But she wields the pen. I’ll no’ vex her. She might go back into the story and write me out of it, ye ken? Perhaps weave in a different hero – one who doesn’t give ‘spoilers.’

Sue-Ellen pops her head in and winks at me I am not that bad, but I do hate spoilers, so he is wise to heed me.

He leans in again, lowering his voice…

See? What did I say? I’d spend the rest of my days charging through the inked pages of my own bluidy tale, trying to delete the new hero and reclaim my Katla. I have her now, and I’m keeping her. Readers wanting to ken our special place – and why we cherish it – can read our story.

How ticklish are you? Where are you ticklish?
My ribs. And if you e’er tell Katla, I’ll send Devorgilla after you.

What’s your favourite smell? What does it remind you of?
Brisk winter air, cold and clean. It reminds me of new beginnings, fresh and invigorating as it is.

When you look at a woman what catches your interest?
The light in her eyes. It reveals everything a man needs to know. The good bits, if you’d hear the way of it. See you, those ‘other bits’ are fine and I do enjoy them. But when you love a woman and mean to keep her all your days, you ken that the time comes when all that ‘fluff’ isn’t what it once was.

He leans in again, his expression intense as he continues…

But the spark in her eye, her inner flame, burns always. That’s where a woman’s true beauty is found.

Do you have somebody in your life now?
Aye, my lady wife, Katla MacKenzie.

What is one word best describes her?
Wild-of-heart. Three words, I ken, but my lady scribe strung them together for me. I’m hoping you won’t mind?

Is your book part of a series? What does the future hold for the readers of the series?
Aye, so it is, I’m proud to say. My lady scribe says Winter Fire is the second story in her ‘Return to Kintail’ series. Novellas she’s writing in one of her favorite story settings, Kintail in the Western Highlands.

I thank you for having me here today, Eniko-lass. It was good to step out of the page for a bit and stretch my legs. Now I’d best slip back into Winter Fire. Katla still frets a bit if I disappear longer than she thinks I should.

Thank you Gunnar for taking the time away from Katla and chat with me. My greeting to Katla!

He’s standing now, smiling at me before he heads for the door. Oops – he’s gone already…

Thanks for dropping by and I hope you enjoyed the chat. i sure did 😉

As he already mentioned, Gunnar hails from “Winter Fire” by wonderful Sue-Ellen Welfonder.

When Katla MacKenzie meets a dashing stranger in an enchanted place, she gladly gives her heart – and her passion – to the lover she only knows as the Lord of Winter.
Gunnar MacLeod can’t resist the bonnie lass and seduces her—or is he the one seduced? A long-standing clan feud comes between them, but a heart that loves is powerful, and Gunnar will do whatever he must to claim Katla as his own.

I had the opportunity to read his story and I was enchanted again by Ms. Welfonder’s ability to draw me into the story. It has all the elements to keep the reader glued to the page, intrigue, deception, magic, and of course love. Gunnar and Katla face many obstacles on their road to HEA and it is quite a trip. Devorgilla makes an appearance in this story too, I love her character and always look forward to her ‘antics’. Thank you Sue-Ellen!

The Scrolls of Cridhe 2

Hello and welcome!

Today I would like to welcome again the Guardians of Cridhe and their Scrolls.

The Legend…

Long, long ago, in the time before time, seven sisters were called from the far reaches of the realm. Each brought unique talents, but had one common gift; the ability to weave ageless tales of love and courage. An evil witch coveted their gifts and locked them in a tower, silencing their voices upon threat of death. But the Highlands are enchanted, and magic will not countenance seven pure hearts such as theirs to be lost.

Highland Flames-bannerWith no one else to hear them, they sang their stories to each other. Fate blew a braw Highland wind to their prison, and the sweet, high timbre of the sisters’ voices enthralled it. The wind gathered close their silver words as it raced past each day, and carried their love and goodness throughout the world…then across the ages.

Today, their words live on in the Guardians of the Cridhe, seven sisters who have sworn to preserve those pure and musical hearts so long as they live. It is said these seven descend from those ancient female bards. Only their words can bear witness to that truth…

Check out their Facebook page and Twitter to keep up to date.

The Scrolls of Cridhe Hunks 2 – My Chat with Gare

Hello and welcome!

Today I have another of the hunks hailing from the Scrolls of Cridhe.

May I present you Gare.
I do a double take… oh my lord … I shall have a talking with Sue-Ellen, she should have warned me … I have to sit … I am hoping drool is not showing on my chin … ahem

What is your full name?
Gare MacTaggert of Blackrock Castle.

Do you have a nickname?

What is one word best describes you?
Battle-hardened. Though now, the story over and with Mairi as my lady wife, I might say ‘besotted.’

Describe what you are wearing now to our readers.
I favor a plaid o’er my shoulder and a sword at my hip. These days, again after the story’s happy ending, I am most commonly seen wearing a smile.
It is a very handsome smile too.

Do you think the author portrayed you accurately?
Aye, she did. She told us that our tale was a ‘gift book’ and that made us special for her. Said we ‘just appeared in her heart and she knew all about us.’ Must be true for we had no quibbles with her. That said, I would’ve appreciated a bit more privacy at times. You can imagine the bits I mean.

What makes you laugh out loud?
I have no’ laughed much in recent years as your readers will see when they read ‘The Taming of Mairi MacKenzie.’ But I’m relearning the pleasure of a good laugh. Most often it is my lady’s new ginger cat, Sprig, who sets me off. Mairi spotted him in Blackrock’s kitchens and claimed him for her own. Between us, I think it was Sprig who did the claiming.

What is your favourite dessert?
Aye, well, Mairi and I enjoy walking round a nearby loch and there’s a stretch of the way that has the best brambles. We’re aye taking along a pail to fill, but I vow I end up eating more than I toss into the bucket.

What is your favourite drink?
Heather ale. Especially if it’s made by Devorgilla. She’s a far-famed Highland cailleach who played a role in our story, as she does in many of the tales written by our lady scribe. Devorgilla has the best heather ale recipe in all Scotland. A shame she willnae share it.
Ah Devorgilla! I heard a lot about her. I like her. I have to say I never tried heather ale, but I will have to correct that.

All these new things and new words I am learning, my head is spinning… as I always say, google is my best friend and I love to learn new things 😉

What is your greatest fear?
Fear? Lass, you forget I’m a Highlander.
How can I forget, I am staring at one, and a very handsome one at that… sigh

What is your favourite colour?
The shade of gloaming. When it descends, the world turns so beautiful stones weep.

I agree, there is something magical about twilight, I love sunrises too.

What do you wear when you go to sleep?
There you go again, forgetting I’m a Highlander. We need only cold night air and a hot-blooded woman to keep us comfortable in our beds. Aye, that means we sleep naked.

What is the perfect romantic date?
Any moments I can pry my lady away from Sprig. He isnae fond of sharing her. See?
he rolls up a sleeve to show the scratches on his arm

How ticklish are you? Where are you ticklish?
I am no’ afflicted, thanks be!

What’s your favourite smell? What does it remind you of?
Anywhere in Scotland after a rain. One deep breath reminds me of why I love my homeland so much.

When you look at a woman what catches your interest?
Her eyes. Eyes that shine with warmth and goodness are all the beauty a woman needs. All else is secondary.

Do you have somebody in your life now?
Aye, my beloved Mairi.

What is one word best describes her?
That she is, I love her.

Is your book part of a series? What does the future hold for the readers of the series?
My lady scribe says that the story was the first of her ‘Return to Kintail’ series. Novellas she’s writing in one of her favorite story worlds, Kintail in the Western Highlands.

Thank you so much Gare for coming for a chat!
It was good of you to visit with me, my lady. Mairi sends her regrets, but she didn’t want to leave Sprig. She had an idea, though. We’ll set a place for you at our high table tonight – if you’ll join us?
I would love to join you. One of the things on my to-do list in life is to visit Scotland and sit with a laird at the high table.

I hope you enjoyed the chat with Gare as much as I did. I learned a few new words, had to look them up 😉

2 big

He hails from “The Taming of Mairi MacKenzie” by Sue-Ellen Welfonder.

A forbidden love so powerful it could destroy them both.

Mairi MacKenzie can bring the dead back to life. But her fame as this special healer is a curse too much to bear, and she takes refuge in the ancient broch of Dunwynde, the Glen of Winds, her secret, well-guarded home. Many are her reasons for hiding from the world, allowing folk to believe she’s a banshee. Clan MacKenzie protects her as one of their dearest treasures. Only Mairi knows how unworthy she is of her clan’s devotion.

Sir Gare MacTaggert only desires redemption. Once counted amongst Scotland’s greatest warriors, he hasn’t lifted a sword in years because of a battlefield tragedy that broke his soul. All that is left to him is his clan and his home, and now he stands to lose them as well. Scotland’s crown wants his corner of the realm strengthened and so a King’s writ has ordered him to forge an alliance – through marriage.

Yet his honor won’t allow him to wed any woman, dead as he is inside. He seeks the aid of the Glen of Winds banshee, but before she can restore his will to live, they must face a greater challenge: the forbidden love that could destroy them.

It is one of the stories in “HIGHLAND WINDS”, Volume 1 in The Scrolls of Cridhe. This wonderful anthology will be released on November 17, 2014.

My chat with Sorley

Hello and welcome!

Today I have somebody coming for a chat who became dear to me recently. Reading about his early life, it broke my heart, and I am glad he turned out ok.

Oh and there he is coming thru the door.

He is so handsome … sigh

Welcome, welcome! Please have a seat, it is so nice to see you again, don’t you look dashing!

I have a soft-knees reaction to a hunk in kilt, my heart goes pitter-patter… I think he knows the effect he has on me because he is smiling at me and winks… the rascal!

Let’s start then…

What is your full name?
I’m a court-born bastard and proud of it, so Sorley has aye been good enough.  Since my book, that’s changed some.  Now aware of my parentage, I’m proud to call myself a MacNab.

Do you have a nickname?
Aye, the Hawk.

What is one word best describes you?

Describe what you are wearing now to our readers.
The proud blue-and-green plaid of my late lady mother’s clan.  I’ve aye favored the it, but only learned in my book that there was a blood-bound reason I felt drawn to the tartan.  My lady scribe wouldn’t care for me to give spoilers here, so I cannae name my mother’s clan.  You’ll have to trust that I’ve garbed myself in fine style for our interview-tryst.
I wish I could take a picture and show you, he is delish.

Do you think the author portrayed you accurately?
Aye, though she could’ve done without having my lady see me wearing a leper’s robe and smeared in dung.  I had good reason for the guise as you’ll ken from the story.  Still, the scribe could’ve let Roag and I ride out of the inn-yard before Mirabelle and her party arrived.
But that was so much fun to read that part…

What makes you laugh out loud?
Lots, and I’m glad of that!  A man who cannae laugh might as well be dead.  These days, my wife’s wee kitten, Little Heart, keeps us both well entertained.  He’s aye feisty and full of himself, but what really makes me roar with laughter is when he bites my friend Roag’s toes.  Roag visits us now and again and leaves his door cracked at night.  Little Heart takes advantage.

What is your favourite dessert?
A certain sweetness only my lady can offer me.  If I have to tell you what it is, you’ve never met the right man.
oh I know what you mean 😉

What is your favourite drink?
A fine and frothy ale at the Red Lion Inn.

What is your greatest fear?
A Highlander fears nothing, lass.  Though if pressed, I’d say waking up and discovering my book was a dream.  I dinnae think I could go on without my Mirabelle.

What is your favourite colour?
Blue.  In a thousand beautiful shades.  Anyone who has e’er looked upon the Highlands will know why.
I would love to go there one day, I’ve read so much about it. It is on my bucket list.

What do you wear when you go to sleep?
Read the opening line of chapter one of my book: “Sorley the Hawk slept naked.”  I’ll add that we Scots leave sleeping-in-bedclothes to our Sassenach neighbors in the south.  A real man needs only cold night air and a hot-blooded woman for his comfort in bed.

What is the perfect romantic date?
Walking the high moors with my lady.  We’d enjoy the clean, cold air, the rich scent of peat, the beauty of the heather, then we’d find a fine, sheltering outcrop, I’d whip off my plaid and spread it on the ground.  If you’ve ever been loved by a Highlander, you’ll know what then happens.

How ticklish are you? Where are you ticklish?
My ribs, but no one has dared tickle me there since Cook in the Stirling Castle kitchens when I was wee sma’ laddie.

What’s your favourite smell? What does it remind you of?
Peat smoke, and it reminds me that there’s no truer way to ken if you have even a jot of Highland blood.  If you do, just a whiff of such earthy-rich sweetness will make your heart pound.

When you look at a woman what catches your interest?
Her eyes.  They say everything.  Sakes, anyone who read my book kens I took one look at Mirabelle’s shining eyes at a certain feast hall celebration and I lost my heart, my soul even.  All the rest is fine, and there’s no’ an inch on a woman that I dinnae love, but it’s her eyes that claim a man.

Do you have somebody in your life now?
My Mirabelle.  Her wee kitten, Little Heart, owns my soul, too.  But dinnae you tell her.  There are some things a man keeps to himself.
My lips are sealed, but I think she knows already 😀

What is one word best describes her?

Is your book part of a series? What does the future hold for the readers of the series?
Aye, the scribe calls the series ‘Scandalous Scots’ and it’s a 4.5 book series.  The start was an e-novella, ONCE UPON A HIGHLAND CHRISTMAS, Dec. 2013.  My friend Roag’s story is next when his TO DESIRE A HIGHLANDER releases later this year.

Thanks so much for meeting with me, lass.  Now I’d best be away.  The night is starting to draw in and I promised my lady a walk to greet the gloaming.  Thereafter, well, we have plans she wouldn’t appreciate me sharing…

I am grateful for your time. All my best to Mirabelle. Love her, she has spunk.

And there you have it. Sorley, my newest book boyfriend hails from TO LOVE A HIGHLANDER, which is book 1 of a 5-book series, Scandalous Scots, launched in December 2013 with an e-novella, ONCE UPON A HIGHLAND CHRISTMAS, by the awesome Sue-Ellen Welfonder.

Excerpt from To Love A Highlander

Set-Up:  Sorley and Mirabelle have met up in the castle chapel to discuss the finer points of the proposition she’s made him…

Mirabelle swallowed, unable to help herself.  “You are a charmer.”
A slow smile curved Sorley’s lips.  A darkly seductive smile, as unsettling as how he’d let his gaze slide oh-so-suggestively up and down her body.  Yet his boldness made her pulse leap.  It also warmed her in indecent places.  She touched a hand to her breast, feeling both hot and dizzy despite the chill dampness of the chapel.
He stepped closer, giving her the distinct impression he’d pounce if she so much as blinked.  “I am fond of women, aye.”
“So I have heard.”  She kept her head raised, resisted the urge to wipe her palms against her cloak.
“Are you nervous?”
“I am relieved.”  She spoke true, just not admitting she was indeed jittery.  Her emotions were running higher than ever before.
She was also sharply aware of every ruggedly alluring inch of him.  Including the oh-so-virile bulge she could see through the edges of his cloak.  The glow of a wall sconce slanted right there, proving that he wasn’t just a tall, strapping man, powerfully-built and good-looking.
He was also just as well-lusted as the court ladies claimed.
Sorley the Hawk wanted her.
And he was already prepared to do exactly what she’d asked of him.

Mini-Excerpt (hot):

Set-Up ~ Sorley speaking to Mirabelle, shortly before their first love scene…

“If I cross this threshold, there’ll be no going back. No restraint.’ He gave her a final chance. ‘I will ravish you in there, as I have e’er dreamt of doing. Thoroughly, completely, and until we are both so replete, so sated, that we cannae move. Then we shall begin again.”
From the author
TO LOVE A HIGHLANDER has a kitten character named Little Heart.  The book is dedicated to the real Little Heart, a stray kitten who was brutalized and died of his injuries several days later.  He was named Little Heart for the heart stitched into his body bandaging.  His story upset me so much that I decided to write him into this book, giving him the happy ending he should have received in real life.

A portion of the royalties will be donated to my favorite cat rescue organization, Alley Cat Allies.
