My recent adventures in the book world

Hello and welcome!

allaccesspass.pngI am so happy that there are more book signings in my part of the world. I am ticking off names from my bucket list of authors I love and want to meet.

KallypsoCon-july15.jpg

I attended the KallypsoCon signing in Burlington, ON back in July, and only the signing on July 15th because the full event tickets were sold out like hot cakes.

I was so happy to finally meet Cherise Sinclair, Kallypso Masters & Lexi Blake SQUEEEE

I got to see again Ainsley Booth and meet her Frisky Beavers co-author Sadie Haller, she is such a sweetie, also got to see and hug again Cara Covington.

New authors for me were Julie Morgan, Sasha White, Ella Dominguez, Sierra Cartwright.

Of course I blew my budget again, but that is nothing new for me LOL

Bumped into a few friends, also authors who attended as readers. Thanks to Kayleigh who gave up her registration bag, I have a memento from the event, and I got it signed by the attending authors ❤

All in all was a good signing, despite being short for me, collected swag for you too. Keep on reading 😉

Moving forward a few weeks which were filled with preparations for the Romancing the Capital in Ottawa, Canada, attended the 3-day event as a ‘bossy Elven helper’ to M. A. Abraham 😉 this being her first signing and all. I think it went pretty good, she was a trooper and took everything in stride. It was a learning experience for both of us, that’s for sure. We as readers do not realize how much time, money, energy goes into preparing and delivering to a signing event. MY HATS OFF TO ALL THE AUTHORS. We participated in a few events, we dressed up for both dinners and the signing went off without a hitch. The only thing we forgot is our capes, but there is always next time 😉

Got to wear a few t-shirts, one M. A. ordered for me with my love Loth, the Elven Warrior King and it says “I RATHER PLAY WITH LOTHRARIEL IN THE ELVEN EMPIRE”, and a couple of t-shirts I designed, one with my book boyfriends who came for a chat on this blog and one with my fave Eargasms voices. Alas the two I made, didn’t make it thru the wash so I have to come up with something more permanent.

I think I am still on a ‘high’ from the event. The generosity of the authors, the friendliness of the readers, the whole atmosphere is electrifying. Eve Langlais, despite promising that she will not do another event again, delivers every time. She is such an awesome hostess, thanking her & her minions, the sponsoring authors for another awesome event.

Meet Dreamy Eyes, a surprise from M. A., the dragon that accompanied me to the event and was my sidekick for one of the dinners when I dressed up as an Elven Dragon Rider. I received a goat from Kate Reedwood, too cute aaaaand I finally got my hands on the EveL Ducky SQUEEEE

I recently joined a group on FB called Aural Fixations, an awesome group of readers addicted to audiobooks (my wallet is terrified when I go to check out what the group has posted LOL), authors and narrators. So I made a sign/fan and got pictures with all the authors who have audiobooks so I can share with the group. I even gave away one audiobook CD set I won in Deborah Cooke’s event.

It was great seeing again authors I met in the past, Deborah Cooke, Zoe York, Sadie Haller, Ashlyn Chase, Opal Carew, Anne Lange, Carey Decevito, Viola Grace, Milly Taiden. Finally meeting ones that I love, more crossed off my bucket list 😀 Sarah Castille, Elle James, Susan Stoker. Discovering new ones, Cathryn Fox, Desiree Holt, Kristine Cayne, Susan Hayes, M. K. Eidem, Anna Markland, A. M. Griffin, Barbara Devlin, Sharon Page, Angela S. Stone, Sara Hubbard, Cat Johnson, Mandy Rosko, Lucy Farago, Amy Ruttan, Sheri Lyn, Cara Addison.

Made a few new friends, hugged old ones, it was like a big family reunion, without the drama of course LOL

I have two bags filled with awesome swag & books from both events plus I raided my stash, I even found some extra t-shirts and would like to share the bounty with two readers, open to Canada and US. Here are the books, split between the two at random 😉

Tell me which authors would you like to meet.

My Chat with Greg… and Natasza?

Hello and welcome!

I just had to bump today’s post for the hunk you are about to meet.

Please welcome Greg! …. and Natasza? What an awesome surprise!

Do you have a nickname?
Greg: My team name in the Canadian JTF2 is Bigfoot. JTF stands for Joint Task Force for those who don’t know. We’re smaller in numbers than the SEALs, but we operate the same way, land, sea and air.

What is one word best describes you?
Greg rubs the back of his neck and gives me a hungry look from below his bangs. Used to be manwhore. My team is a little on the hardass side. Now, I’d say loyal. Completely and utterly loyal to my wife, Mattie.

What makes you laugh out loud?
Greg: Until I met Mattie Bidault, not a helluva lot, but now I can’t help laughing when she gets pissed at me. She’s got the Irish temper and a tongue to match.

What is your favourite smell? What does it remind you of?
Greg: Wow, I’d have to say the ocean. I joined the Navy over twenty years ago. Never tired of it. It used to mean freedom to me. Now that Mattie and I live in San Diego, it means home.

Favourite place to spend time in.
Greg chuckles. You really want me to answer that? For a long time I probably would have said the Dark Angel. It’s a special club in Victoria, but now I’d say just hangin’ out with my girl. Doesn’t really matter where.

Writing! What started it?
Greg: Guess that questions for Nat.
Natasza: Because of a friend of a friend who visited me one summer afternoon. This gal had escaped a life of absolute nightmares. Sold by her parents into prostitution, she finally escaped with a young man and came to Canada. She ended up on my patio and we talked about the things we hadn’t accomplished in life. When I mentioned I used to write. She looked at me with those big blue haunted eyes and asked, ‘Why don’t you now?’ I didn’t have a good answer. That night, I sat down at my computer and started to write again. That was 2010, and I haven’t stopped since.
I am so glad you did!

If you could choose another career what would it be?
Greg: I’m doing it now. I used to be a Canadian Warfare Specialist. Anti-terrorism, diplomatic missions, that kind of thing. Now, I work at NAB Coronado as a specialist teaching SEALs.

Audiobooks! Any plans to have any of your books in audio format?
Natasza: I looked into it, and I’d love to give it a try. It’s on my to-do list when I retire.
I would love to listen to Thane’s voice … or Mace’s *sigh*

Does your work convey a specific emotion or message?
Natasza: Always. For A Warrior’s Challenge series, especially. Each book in the series addresses the life of a Special Operator, either a SEAL or in Greg’s case JTF2. When you protect Uncle Sam or Canada, there’s a price to pay. Each book delves into those hot topics, aside from the ones between the bed sheets.

Who is your intended audience and why should they read your books?
Greg: I’ll take this one.
Nat shrugs.
Go for it.
Greg: I think Nat’s audience is anyone who wants a little truth in their novels as well as high impact suspense or action. She’s not bad at writing contemporary stories, but the tales she writes with a military twist gives her more room to dig into the emotional side of the characters. If readers like a book with depth and intensity, those are the folks who’ll like Nat’s work.
Nat chuckles. Well said.
I agree!

What is next in your writing?
Natasza: The next book out the door will be the last for A Warrior’s Challenge series, called Code Name: War of Stones. It’s gonna rock the boat…big time. After that, I’ve got a new series starting this fall. The next series is about a team of retired SEALs and has a strong paranormal twist to it. Looking forward to that and retirement from the Coast Guard this fall when I can write full time.
I am so looking forward to more.

Thank you Greg for coming for a chat! And Natasza ! You always manage to surprise me LOL keeps me on my toes 😉 Congrats on your new release!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks for joining us and I hope you enjoyed the chat.
Greg hails from the just released “Code Name: Redemption”, book 6 in “A Warrior’s Challenge” Series by Natasza Waters. I met him before in the previous books, but I am glad he got his own story, I wondered what happened to him. I started it last night and it it so good.
Rugged. Mysterious. Dangerous.
Lieutenant Commander Greg LaPierre, a Special Forces Operator, returns home after a seven-month deployment. He wants to shake combat from his back, but only days after his arrival the police accuse him of murder.
Someone is slaughtering women and leaving them at historic locations in the emerald city of Victoria. Whispers of Whitechapel drape the cobblestone streets with fear. Mattie Bidault, a local journalist, has been following the case from the beginning, and Greg is either innocent or she’s falling for the deadliest serial killer since Jack the Ripper.
