Romancing the Falls 2019

Hello and welcome!

Getting ready to attend Romancing the Falls again, RTF for short, the book signing event in Niagara Falls, Canada in May 2019. Freya Barker and her team are working hard behind the scene to bring this event to us. I attended the first one in 2017 and had an awesome time. If you missed my post then, you can read it here.

RTF2019-banner.jpg

An event with over 70 authors attending and hopefully many readers coming to see them. There will be a silent auction with donations from authors and bloggers. The proceeds will be going to Niagara Falls Children’s Outreach Programs. I will be bringing two baskets for sure, one from the always generous M. A. Abraham and one from my blog. There might be a third one in the works 😉

My Chat with Malachi

Hello and welcome!

Oh you will like my guest today. Met him a few months ago and he is my fave from the series. Read on and find out why 😉

Welcome! Welcome!

What is your full name?
Malachi Whitetail

Do you have a nickname?
People call me Mal, and probably plenty of other things, but those are best left unmentioned.

What is one word best describes you?
Only one? My wife would probably say broody, but I think laid-back would be more appropriate.

Describe what you are wearing now to our readers.
Seriously? I dunno—jeans, a black tee, some boots. Same thing every day.

Do you think the author portrayed you accurately?
hmmm Overall I guess so, although there were some scenes where she left me raw and bleeding. I don’t do emotion well and she had me inside out. That was tough, but since everything ended up the way it did, I can’t really complain. She did okay.

What makes you laugh out loud?
The shit my boy, Asher, gets into.

What is your favourite dessert?
My wife, Kim. If she’s not there, apple pie, but in a pinch I’ll take a beer.

What is your favourite drink?
Beer

What is your greatest fear?
Running out of beer

What is your favourite colour?
Black

What do you wear when you go to sleep?
Is that a trick question?
No, do you want me to guess? he smirks

What is the perfect romantic date?
A night at home with my wife, the kid and our Great Dane, Boo, stayin’ over at my brother’s.

How ticklish are you? Where are you ticklish?
You touch me and you stand to lose a limb. That’s how ticklish.

What’s your favourite smell? What does it remind you of?
Vanilla. It always reminds me of my wife. She has this shit she puts on her hair after she washes it, making it smell like fresh baked cookies.

When you look at a woman what catches your interest?
Used to be tall, thin, tits and blonde. That is until I met short, lush, tits and dark. I haven’t looked since then.

Do you have somebody in your life now?
Two somebodies actually: my wife Kimeo, and my boy Asher.

What is one word best describes her?
My wife? Impossible to describe all that she is in one word. In fact, I’m not sure there are enough words in existence to describe her. She’s my world.

Is your book part of a series? What does the future hold for the readers of the series?
Yes, the Cedar Tree series. They’re basically standalone books and everyone working for GFI got their story written. I had to wait six books for my turn, but I first appeared in the third one, Against Me. That was my brother Caleb’s story, and I wasn’t in a very good place in my life back then.

After me it’s the youngest member of the team, Neil’s turn. He may be young, but after learning about the things he endured overseas, it’s obvious why he’s mature well beyond his age. Stands to reason he’d be drawn to an older woman, and Kendra is just perfect for him.

I really enjoyed getting to know you and Kimeo. Thank you Mal for chatting with me.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, I hope you enjoyed the chat.
As Malachi mentioned, he hails from “Like Arrows”, book 6 in the Cedar Tree Series by one of my fave authors, Freya Barker.
6-la-ecover
An assignment has just turned interesting for GFI investigator Malachi Whitetail. When a shy, mousy woman walks into his local diner, it takes him a minute to recognize her as an employee of the real estate office he’s been monitoring. Not a believer in coincidence, Mal decides a closer look at the short brunette might be warranted. It will be the first, but certainly not the last time, he finds himself coming to her rescue.
Kimeo Lowe leads a pretty quiet existence, which is why, when she ends up a witness to a crime, her curiosity into her boss’s suspected shady dealings gets kicked into high gear. She may not be the most sociable of people, but she’s always been independent and industrious, so when an opportunity to dig a little deeper arises, she doesn’t think twice. It would seem that this time she’s bitten off a bit more than she can chew, and when a freakishly tall Native American Adonis intervenes not just once, she decides sleuthing may be best left to professionals. But it’s a bit too late.
Just when life has settled into a comfortable routine, Kim finds herself dealing with not just one, but two threats on her life. With every turn there are new challenges to face, and Mal is not about to let her face them alone. Not even when he turns out to be no match for her most dangerous enemy.
LikeArrows
I listened to the audiobook and what an amazing experience it was, enjoying Tanya Eby and Noel Harrison’s voices. It was a 5-star listen for me. The story is a mix of romance, suspense, mystery, a bit of drama, some hawt sexy scenes too and makes for an interesting 10 hours. I love how Ms. Barker characters are so relatable, with real issues and hangups…. yes Mal can be a jerk at times, but Kimeo puts in his place and we get to know the real him. They do get their HEA, but the road taking them there is quite trying.
Here is a audio clip for your enjoyment
If you have not read / listened to the series, I urge you to give them a try, you will not be disappointed.
Freya Barker inspires with her stories about ‘real’ people, perhaps less than perfect, each struggling to find their own slice of happy.
She is the author of the Cedar Tree and Portland, ME Series, the Northern Lights Collection and the Rock Point Series. She is also co-author of the SnapShot Series.
My Surprise Chat with Thieron
Hello and welcome!
I got another surprise visit, a good one I have to say. Read on and find out who popped in for a chat.
Bet you thought I wouldn’t arrive in time.
I hear a man’s voice coming from behind me as I insert the key into the lock on the door of my office. My first thought is, is he talking to me? I turn to see a tall blonde drop dead gorgeous Elf. YES! Definitely for me.
I thought M.A. told you I would be arriving at around this time, The male Elf looks slightly apologetic.
It strikes me then that there was supposed to be a conversation between M.A. and I, but I got busy with meetings, then she was busy and, next thing we knew, it was time for me to head for home before the boss thought I was looking for more things to keep me busy. Who would have thought what needed to be discussed was this pressing. She usually gives me more warning than this, the woman can’t keep a secret worth beans.
We never got to discuss much of anything lately. We have been busy, I offer as an excuse. I am having a bit of a problem keeping my mind focused on the conversation I am supposed to be having with this Elf as he is standing barely a foot in front of me wearing nothing but suede pants and a pair of boots. He smells of the deep forest and his hair is hanging in long swathes down to his hips… and what hips they are, tapering down from a very lickable chest… so shoot me… I am a living, breathing female with twenty twenty vision.
Would you like me to come back at another time? He asks.
No, we are good, come inI invite. I then realize how cold it is outside and he is standing before me without a coat on. Not that I mind, but he has to be freezing. It is the next thing I say, You must be half frozen.
This isn’t bad, you should feel what it is like where M.A. lives. That is worth putting on a shirt for. Also, as you two never got to talk about my visit, you won’t know who I am. My name is Thieron.
thieron_medium
I thought as muchI admit. I recognize you from your posters … which is currently hanging up over my bed, I am not about to tell him that though.
I thought about bringing Talus with me, but he is too busy panting after Britallia at the present, Thieron confided.
I read about that, I snicker, as I taken off my coat to hang it up.
When M.A. told me what you said after you read about my treatment at the hands of the Eagle Claw children and their friends, I figured I would come and collect your offer, Thieron announced with a grin.
Collect? What offer? I stop and look at Thieron in surprise. Things are moving too quickly here, I am having trouble keeping up. This has got to be M.A.’s influence, she is always throwing me curves.
Yes! You don’t remember? My hug? Thieron smiles widely as he holds out his arms.
How can I resist? Doesn’t everyone want to hug someone that smells of evergreen trees? No, the physique doesn’t really matter… much.
I wrap my arms around Thieron’s waist and lay my head on his well-defined chest and resist an urge to taste … well … maybe I did manage to sneak a quick flick of the tongue. 😉 He enfolds me in his arms and I sigh. Yes, I definitely love the smell of pine trees.
When he lets me go, he is grinning and his eyes are full of mischief while he passes on a few messages.
Cambria sends her regards.
Cambria? Why? I can’t imagine what she might send to me.
I watch Thieron turn and walk to the outside door. DAYUM he even looks good from behind. He returns with something wrapped in vines and decorated with flowers. Definitely the work of a woman. He drops whatever is tied up onto the floor and I hear a voice give a squeak of protest as it lands hard on the ground. I feel my eyes widen as I ask, Is someone in there?
Thieron chuckles and replies, Unfortunately, I have to take it back with me when I leave or the Dark King won’t be pleased. He is apt to have words with us as it is.
What have the two of you done? I gasp.
Thieron speaks a few words and a young boy picks himself off the floor and launches himself at Thieron as he goes on the attack. He stops as he gets one warning, Cambria told me what spell to use to hang you from the trees as you did to me. Now, be a gentleman and say what you should to Lady Eniko.
The young Elf turns to me, bows and speaks, I am honored to be in your home.
Don’t you feel somewhat contrite about how you and the Eagle Claw children treated poor Thieron? I ask.
The boy smiled smugly winking at me while he declares The Eagle Claws motto says it best, For the King and Elven Empire. Serena is our Princess and it is our responsibility to protect her.
So why have you brought him here? I wonder.
Just to let him know, with an impartial witness, that payback can be brutal, Thieron laughs aloud, as he waves farewell. He picks up the young Elf and walks out the door. I watch from the window, he looks around and turns into a Dragon. As the young Elf turns to run from him, Thieron catches the seat of his pants in his teeth and warns, I wouldn’t thrash about too much if I were you, material has been known to tear and then where would you be? Then took to the air.
I shake my head and chuckle. Never boring around M.A.’s Elves, that’s for sure. I didn’t get to ask him any of my usual nosy questions, maybe next time.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I hope you enjoyed this visit too.

Thieron hails from the just released, THE PRINCESS, book 2 in the Guardians of the Empire by M. A. Abraham.

With the help of her sister, Chania, Serena managed to escape from their father. She will not be held captive, not by someone that wants to mate her to one of his prime Dragon shifters, not even if the man is an Elven Prince. She refuses to settle for anyone but A true Life Mate.Thieron returns home from a mission, only to find he has to go out again. This is not what he had planned, and he is not happy about being sent to the Elven Empire to chase down a spoiled Elven Princess who won’t listen to reason.They are both surprised, when they meet face to face to find that they are Life Mates, but it is never that simple with a Light Elven maiden, especially when she has recruited others to help keep her safe.

My review: 5 stars
The series will be epic. “The Princess” was just as good as the previous book with the twists, the humour that the fans are accustomed to from the author. Serena really put Thieron thru his paces but in the end he does get his Life Mate he’s been waiting for and I say it was about time. Poor Thieron! I want to hug him.

Add it to your Goodreads TBR list.

Look at the beautiful print book cover, Cora Graphics did an amazing job as usual.
