My Chat with Gertrude

Hello and welcome!

Guess who I have here chatting with me?  A lady I met a few times in her adventures with the pocket watch.

Please welcome Gertrude!

What is your full name?
Gertrude. That’s it. One name, like Cher or Beyonce. But I’ve been around since the dawn of time, so I’m the original.
You sure are LOL

Do you have a nickname?
No. I’m simply Gertrude.

What is the one word that best describes you?
There isn’t one word. People often like the word “angel” but human languages are limited at best. I’m an immortal spirit with a job to do, choose the word that works best for ye.

Do you think the author portrayed you accurately?
Well, I’ve just told ye human languages are limited, but as far as is possible, Ceci has managed quite nicely.

You have the ability to go back and forth in time. Do you have a favourite era?
I exist outside of the boundaries of time and space so I can be where and when I need to be at any moment. And as to a favorite era, oh, my precious lass, that would be like asking a mother to choose her favorite child.

Describe what you are wearing now to our readers.
Now that’s an interesting question. What I’m wearing depends more on ye then me. If ye’re reading this on a beach, I’m probably wearing a broad brimmed hat and a bathing suit under a beautiful batik cover-up. If ye’re curled up next to a fire on a cold night, I’m probably wearing a pair of comfortable trousers, a cozy sweater and fuzzy slippers. If ye meet me in a medieval market, I’m likely to be wearing a dark cloak with lots of pockets. So, ye tell me, what am I wearing?
This is what I see.

Lynn Waite.jpg

source

You are shrouded in mystery and I think that is your allure. Why do you choose to appear as an older woman?
To accomplish the work I need to do, I must assume a form that can communicate with humans and appear nonthreatening. I must also be perceived as wise and believable. This form suits my sensibilities. However the variety and form ancient spirits choose to take is unlimited.

What makes you laugh out loud?
The responses I sometimes get when I offer the pocket watch to someone who doesn’t quite believe. Some of ye may remember the sweet lass who wanted me to seek the help of a mental health care professional.
I guess you can’t blame her, in today’s society we are conditioned not to believe what we cannot touch or understand.

What is your favourite dessert?
Rhubarb crumble.

What is your favourite drink?
That depends on where I find myself. I do love an exquisite cup of Chinese tea, but if it’s a warm day, I prefer it iced. Sometimes a cup of hot chocolate is just the ticket and other times an iced mocha is perfect. Of course if I am chatting with Ceci about my adventures lemon drop martinis are in order.

lemonmartini.jpg

Oh I heard about Ceci’s Lemon Drop Martinis and I wouldn’t mind trying it one day. I’ll have to ask her for the recipe.

What is your favourite colour?
Green. The color of trees and grass…it’s the color I associate with life.

What’s your favourite smell? What does it remind you of?
My favorite smell is a baby’s head. It’s the aroma of new life and unlimited possibilities.
Oh I love that smell too, innocence and sunshine.

For the readers who have not met you, what is the one advice you would give them?
Keep an open mind. Be willing to listen. Don’t judge. These three simple things may open new worlds for ye.
Very wise advice!

What does the future hold for the readers of the series?
I have never been in the business of predicting the future. I will continue doing the work I was created to do and I suspect Ceci will continue to tell ye about it. I do know Ceci is revisiting Duncurra, the place where she started. Her next book will be about that young Tomas who ye met first in Highland Solution. After that I expect she’ll tell ye another of my stories.

Thank you so much for chatting with me. I am looking forward to read more of your adventures.

Hope you enjoyed the chat as much as I did.

Gertrude is hailing from one of my fave series, “The Pocket Watch Chronicles” by Ceci Giltenan.

coverfinalsm-thechoice.jpg

The newest installment, “The Choice” released today. I can’t wait to get lost in the story!

CONGRATS CECI !

It includes two complete, full-length novels.

Sixty days in another life, another time…it’s tempting. Now the decision to accept the pocket watch is yours. What choice will you make?

Sara Wells is in Venice, preparing to leave on a fourteen day cruise to Greece, when Gertrude offers her the pocket watch.
Will she take it? You choose.

If you accept the watch, Sara will travel to eighteenth century Venice where she meets a young Scottish expatriate who owns a small ship building company. Will their love for each other be enough to overcome all obstacles?

If you refuse the watch, Sara will remain in the twenty-first century, where she will encounter a traveler from the past and more intrigue than she can pack into the books she writes.

One choice, two souls, two different happy endings.

Read Chapter 1 here.

Books 1 and 2 of the series available in audiobook format too, narrated by one of my fave voices, Paul Woodson. You can listen to book 3, “Once Found”, on youtube on the Duncurra Channel! How cool is that? Check it out!

Would you accept the pocket watch from Gertrude? I so would.

Follow Ceci Giltenan on Facebook ~ Twitter , also on her website to keep up to date on her amazing books.

Books are listed on Goodreads, and go check out the author page on Amazon and give it a like.

One lucky reader will win an ebook copy of any of The Pocket Watch Chronicles (winner’s choice), courtesy of  Ceci Giltenan. Sexy Mr. Random will pick a winner from the comments after 3pm EST on Monday, May 1, 2017. GOOD LUCK!

Until next time read a book, listen to a book and don’t forget to show your love by leaving a review!

1 – The Scrolls of Cridhe, Vol. 2 – My Chat with Logan

Hello and welcome!

As you read in my post yesterday, I invited the heroes of “Highland Flames” and today is the first chat.

Welcome! Welcome!

What is your full name?
Laird Logan Carr.

Do you have a nickname?
No.

What is one word best describes you?
Responsible.

Describe what you are wearing now to our readers.
That’s an odd question. I’m wearing a belted tunic, we call it a léine. Normally I would wear a plaid around my shoulders to keep of the chill, but it is a tad warm tonight.

Do you think the author portrayed you accurately?
Aye, she did rather well.

What makes you laugh out loud?
My grandmother. She is candid to the point of being inappropriate occasionally, but she is very funny.

What is your favourite dessert?
Maggie made the oddest thing a few days ago. She called it a cookie. I quite liked that.

What is your favourite drink?
A good heather ale is always refreshing.

What is your greatest fear?
Losing a loved one.

What is your favourite colour?
Green. No reason, I just like it.

What do you wear when you go to sleep?
By all the saints, lass, does anyone wear anything to sleep?

What is the perfect romantic date?
I’m not sure what a “date” is. However, I enjoy quiet evenings talking and perhaps playing chess.

How ticklish are you? Where are you ticklish?
I’m not ticklish at all. My feet are especially not ticklish. You’re getting this right? Logan Carr is not ticklish.

What’s your favourite smell? What does it remind you of?
I love the smell mint. Maggie puts it in her bath water and her hair always smells a bit like mint. Ye ken, fresh and clean.

When you look at a woman what catches your interest?
A woman’s eyes are the windows to her soul, but a soft round bottom is enticing too.

Do you have somebody in your life now?
My betrothed is Margaret Grant. She has changed recently. She likes to be called Maggie now. In fairness, I like “Maggie” better than I did “Margaret.”

What is one word best describes her?
Remarkable.

Is your book part of a series? What does the future hold for the readers of the series?
I’m not certain. I have been told that my great-grandchildren already appear in books. Apparently I will have a daughter named Malina, whose granddaughter is an admirable young woman named Grace. I will also have another daughter named Elasaid whose grandson, Niall MacIan somehow started this whole thing.

Thank you Laird Logan for taking the time for this chat and I am looking forward to reading your story.

I hope you enjoyed the chat.

The Scrolls of Cridhe 2

Hello and welcome!

Today I would like to welcome again the Guardians of Cridhe and their Scrolls.

The Legend…

Long, long ago, in the time before time, seven sisters were called from the far reaches of the realm. Each brought unique talents, but had one common gift; the ability to weave ageless tales of love and courage. An evil witch coveted their gifts and locked them in a tower, silencing their voices upon threat of death. But the Highlands are enchanted, and magic will not countenance seven pure hearts such as theirs to be lost.

Highland Flames-bannerWith no one else to hear them, they sang their stories to each other. Fate blew a braw Highland wind to their prison, and the sweet, high timbre of the sisters’ voices enthralled it. The wind gathered close their silver words as it raced past each day, and carried their love and goodness throughout the world…then across the ages.

Today, their words live on in the Guardians of the Cridhe, seven sisters who have sworn to preserve those pure and musical hearts so long as they live. It is said these seven descend from those ancient female bards. Only their words can bear witness to that truth…

Check out their Facebook page and Twitter to keep up to date.

My Chat with Tadhg …YUMYUMYUM

Hello and welcome!

Thanks again for joining me in my chat room.

Today I have somebody who I met very recently, I fell in love in the first book of the series and after reading the second book which was his story, he is locked forever in my heart. I anticipated all week his arrival ever since Miss Ceci told me that he is coming.

And here he is, be still my heart, he is so handsome… I just hope I don’t get tongue tied… wish me luck.

Come in, come in. Thank you for accepting my invitation for a chat. Have a seat.

He bows, then takes a seat in the high back chair across from me.

What is your full name?
Tadhg Matheson, Laird of Clan Matheson.

I am ready to melt just listening to his voice, I love the Scottish accent… sigh

Do you have a nickname?
My friends just call me Tadhg, that is pronounced TIEg

What is one word best describes you?
Hmmm, I suppose that depends on one’s point of view but I would have to say loyal.

Describe what you are wearing now to our readers.
Now lass, I can’t imagine why they would want to know that.

I can see you, but they can’t and I know they are always curious.
I am wearing what I always wear, a full-sleeved tunic, called a léine in Gaelic that reaches my knees and a length of plaid belted at my waist and pinned at my shoulders.

Do you think the author portrayed you accurately?
Och lass, talk has reached my ears that I have been called the perfect man. I don’t think such a beast exists, so she may have polished my edges a bit. However, I do love my wife with all my heart and I try to be a fair and noble leader.
I think you are perfect …. sigh

What makes you laugh out loud?
I laugh at a lot of things but I suppose my greatest joy comes from children. Their enthusiasm and willingness to simply experience life is refreshing.

What is your favourite dessert?
I love tarts, particularly berry tarts with a bit of fresh cream on them.

Baking is not my strength, I am glad my friends do bake, but I make some really good raspberry whipped cream, here, taste this.

Red-Ras-300x225

He looks curiously at it, smells it and then tastes it.

Tastes really good.
I know, raspberries are my favourite.

What is your favourite drink?
It depends on the occasion. As a general rule I enjoy good, mellow ale. However, I would never say no to a drop of fine, aged whisky.

What is your greatest fear?
Ah lass, what is every man’s greatest fear? I fear not being able to protect and care for my family. They are my world.

What is your favourite colour?
At one time, I would have said green. Now, there is nothing more beautiful than the silver grey color of my lovely wife’s eyes.

What do you wear when you go to sleep?
Have ye ever seen my wife? All I wear to bed is a smile.

What is the perfect romantic date?
Date? Ah, ye mean the courting ritual in which modern folks engage? Well, I can’t say I have ever been on a date, but I suppose slipping away to someplace private with my sweet Mairead might be fun. Perhaps taking a wee snack and a skin of wine to share would be nice.

How ticklish are you? Where are you ticklish?
I am not ticklish. Well, perhaps I am a little ticklish under the arms.

What’s your favourite smell? What does it remind you of?
I love the fragrance that belongs solely to my wife. It is the fresh clean aroma of soap, herbs and some unique aroma that is hers alone. When I smell it, I know I am home. I am with those I love most in the world.

When you look at a woman what catches your interest?
Her eyes. I have already told ye, I find my wife’s eyes captivating. I think a woman’s soul and beauty are most profoundly revealed in her eyes.

Do you have somebody in your life now?
Aye lass. My wee wife Mairead is the heart of my heart.

What is one word best describes her?
Strong. She doesn’t always believe that, but I know it is true. She has the heart of a warrior.

Is your book part of a series? What does the future hold for the readers of the series?
My book is the second book in the Duncurra series. The third book is about my old friend, Fingal MacIan. He and I trained together under Laird Chisholm. King David II has plans for Fingal and I do not envy him. He is being asked to marry Malcolm MacLennan’s heir and lead his clan. The problem is, he is the last man on the face of the earth that she wants to marry. Still, he is up to this task. If anyone can win the heart of a reluctant lass, it is Fingal.

I look forward to see what happens to Fingal.

Thanks again for making the time for the chat, I know you are a busy man. Sending my love to Mairead, she truly is amazing.

And there you have it, I hope you enjoyed the chat as much as I did.

Her parents want a betrothal, but Mairead MacKenzie can’t get married without revealing her secret and no man will wed her once he knows.
Plain in comparison to her siblings and extremely reserved, Mairead has been called “MacKenzie’s Mouse” since she was a child. No one knows the reason for her timidity and she would just as soon keep it that way. When her parents arrange a betrothal to Laird Tadhg Matheson she is horrified. She only sees one way to prevent an old secret from becoming a new scandal.

Tadhg Matheson admires and respects the MacKenzies. While an alliance with them through marriage to Mairead would be in his clan’s best interest, he knows Laird MacKenzie seeks a closer alliance with another clan. When Tadhg learns of her terrible shyness and her youngest brother’s fears about her, Tadhg offers for her anyway.

Secrets always have a way of revealing themselves. With Tadhg’s unconditional love, can Mairead find the strength and courage she needs to handle the consequences when they do?

The first book in the series, “Highland Solution” is where I first met Tadhg and he captured my attention. Make sure you are sign up at BookBub, this title will be on sale for 99ç on July 21st.
