Audiobooks to listen to: The Secret Series

Hello and welcome!

I listened to book 1 a while ago, didn’t know what to think, I didn’t leave a review…

But … some time has passed and now I had the opportunity to get the trilogy and oh boy… it was worth it. That is why I do not discount stories, sometimes our state of mind does not resonate with some stories, so I always give them another chance.

The Secret Series: The Complete Trilogy

by Gina A. Jones

SecretSeries-cover.jpg

Julia: I don’t know what to expect alone at this isolated manor. I’m a nanny for a 10-year-old little girl. Her father is gone. I’m not sure he even exists. Things don’t seem right. There are strange calls, and I hang up. Then, one dark, stormy night, he enters my life. I watch his strange behavior. I witness the strange relationship between him and his daughter. I watch him watch me.

One minute he’s harsh and the next he’s vulnerable. He tells me he needs me. He tells me his wife is dead. I want to believe him because I have fallen in love with him. He doesn’t know I crave him. He doesn’t know I want to touch him. He doesn’t know I’m a virgin. And…he doesn’t know I have found his secret hidden in the floor of my closet.

Jonas: She doesn’t know the murder I covered up. She doesn’t know the woman I destroyed. She doesn’t know the evil schemed I conjured to lure her to my manor. She doesn’t know I altered her fate. She doesn’t know my true intentions. She doesn’t know I watched her long before we met one dark, stormy night. She doesn’t know the man I used to be. But I do.

She doesn’t know the truth.

Follow the epic journey of Julia Ellis and Jonas Fairbanks in this breathtaking, you’ll never see it coming, three-book trilogy of The Secret Series.

Warning: This book contains graphic sexual scenes and is recommended for mature listeners only.

My review: 5 stars

Where do I start? One of the hardest stories I listened to in a while … complicated, twisted, sad… kept me guessing the whole time. At times I wanted it to be over, then didn’t want to know what was coming next. My heart was ripped to shreds and just when I found a sliver of hope for mending, it got twisted again. So realistic in many ways that at time it was like a movie reel in my mind. The first two books I judged Jonas, but understood him too… at least I thought I did until book 3 when it was his time to tell the story. The angst and despair, the fight for a simple, happy life…. but he did it… THEY did it, with Julia. His friend Luke is a great secondary character, same with Natalie. Rebecca and Genevieve were the ones that I am sure many detest for their twisted minds.
I am glad I took the trilogy because book 1 and 2 end in cliffhangers and it would have driven me mad to wait for the next story. It is dark, but with a great ending and justice is rendered to those who deserve it. – A great story I recommend with 5 stars

Tracy Marks is one of my fave voice, definitely on my ‘eargasm’ list and she does the many voices with such passion and variation, I love listening to her. Aaron Shedlock did Jonas justice and all the characters he portrayed in book 3, his voice is smexy and delicious. – 5 stars

I am definitely looking forward to listen to more of Gina A. Jones‘ stories. I hope Luke gets his story, but please go easy on him, Ms. Jones 🙂

I did listen to “Love, Micheal” in September last year narrated by Ms. Jones and the author does know how to get your heart going. It was another 5-star listen for me.

Check out her stories on the website and follow on FBTwitter

Tracy Marks joined me for a chat, I can’t believe it has been 3 years already, check it out here.

Aaron Shedlock also chatted with me 2 years ago, read it here.

My Chat with Kelsey Navarro

Hello and welcome!

My guest today has a voice that gave me many hours of listening bliss and she is definitely on my ‘eargasm’ voices list. My love affair with her work started in August last year, listening to the voices she gives to the characters and how she gives their emotions life is something to be experienced.

Please welcome Kelsey Navarro!

Kelsey.jpg

Do you have a nickname?
I usually go by Kelsey, but Kel or Kels sometimes.

What is one word best describes you?
Optimistic? That’s a tough one.

What makes you laugh out loud?
Memes and sarcasm

What is your favourite smell? What does it remind you of?
I LOVE wintery smells and baking anything with cinnamon.

Favourite place to spend time in.
I love being in my booth.

What is your fave genre to read in your spare time? Do you have any spare time?
I am a huge romance fan so I tend to listen to all subgenres of that when I have time. I also love self-help non-fiction. I’m a big nerd for personal development.

Audiobooks! What started them?
I’ve always wanted to be in voice over. But a few years ago I went through demo coaching for Commercial and Narration and found audiobooks. Never looked back from there.

Is there a genre that you would not narrate?
No, not so far. I definitely have preferences but I would narrate any genre.

If you could choose another career what would it be?
I actually had another one prior to this. I was in retail management for 8 years prior to going into voice over full time.

Does your work convey a specific emotion or message?
I do a pretty varied amount of work so I don’t know that there’s a specific emotion or message. I’m a huge fan of keeping the performance as genuine as possible.

Who is your intended audience and why should they listen to your audiobooks?
I do tend to mostly do romance and it’s my favorite genre so those that love that genre would like what I do. I love what I do and hope that shows in my work.
Believe me, it does show.

What is next in your narrating work?
I’m working on a lot this next month! Some Alien romance, a Reverse Harem series, Contemporary romance, a few dual narration and some other great things.

Oh I like the sound of that, looking forward to more hours of ‘eargasms’ 😉
Thank you for chatting with me.

My Chat with Pépé G. Woodman!

Hello and welcome!

I am so happy on my first blog post of the new year to introduce a brand new author.

Please welcome Pépé G. Woodman!

A warrior of P.T.S.D., Pépé G. Woodman has opened up his lifetime experience in the wake of trauma. A carpenter for more than 30 years, he shares his love of nature and creativity on many levels, through crafting wood and photography.

pepe-1.jpg

Do you have a nickname?
Pepe is my nickname I’ve come up with that one many years ago during my DJing years. Also I started a band called the Tweed Twangerz and my name was Pepe.
My real name is Pierre Guignard. I came up with the G from my last name and Woodman cuz I love working with wood so altogether Pepe G Woodman was born or reborn as it were.

What is one word best describes you?
I would have to say the one word that describes me the best be “unfiltered”. 😀

What makes you laugh out loud?
A truly humorous yet clever jokes or someone’s laughter to a joke are my favourite that make me laugh out loud.

What is your favourite smell? What does it remind you of?
My favourite smell would have to truly be fresh laundry from the line outside. It reminds me that I’m actually able to relax.

Favourite place to spend time in.
I absolutely love being in nature taking hikes discovering and taking photographs.

Is there a genre that you refuse to read?
I don’t per se refuse to read any type of genre, I enjoy reading for knowledge. If there is something I don’t know, I either ask somebody, or I do research and that consists of a lot of reading. If I have to go into various genres to find information, so be it. All writing is valuable.

Writing! What started it?
I was diagnosed with PTSD 6+ years ago. Looking at my photographs, the places that I’ve been made me reminisce about positive things I felt being in those places, so I began to start writing into the photos that I take. In doing so, I discovered I could actually write a book.

If you could choose another career what would it be?
I have never committed myself to one trade or work experience. I’m a man of many talents this I have finally accepted. I am a carpenter by trade, but if I had to choose another career, it would be a wilderness tour guide hands down.

Does your work convey a specific emotion or message?
The work that I do is carpentry or I problem solve and do home repairs and maintenance. For my clients I see satisfaction in their faces.

rings.jpg
As for other works I create wooden rings and the message in my rings are all personal to the individual that owns one.

Pepe-woodwork.jpg

Who is your intended audience and why should they read your books?
My intended audience would be people with PTSD like myself, but hearing back from readers that purchased the book, I have discovered it can be for anyone.

What is next in your writing?
I truly would like to do part two of my first book. Maybe write my life story in the hopes that it would help all types of people of all races and of all genders.

Thank you Pépé for chatting with me and I am looking forward to the next book.

I hope you enjoyed the chat and will join Pépé in his writing adventure.

My review: 5 stars
I read the book over a few days and it was really good, such a heartfelt and inspirational story. It can be taken in small doses because it makes you think, at the same time, giving you hope that it can get better. As one suffering from PTSD, I found it helpful, enforcing the feeling that I am not alone. The photos were amazing, showing the tranquility in nature and the power of it over our psyche. The word play, coming up with positive words for the letters PTSD was well done. I recommend the book for anybody who likes photography and want to know more on one man’s struggle and continuous search for brighter days.

Pepe-XavierCross.jpg

Pépé played Xavier Cross in the Murder Mystery Dinner theatre at KaLiCon and he was amazing. The play was based on the book Invited, A Dinner to Die For by Kali Willows and Kacey Hammell, there was one copy in the last giveaway on this blog 😉

Check out his website for all the awesome creations in wood here. I purchased a ring and then I won a second one in one of his giveaways on FB. Love them.

I would love to gift you, or a loved one who you think could benefit from this book, a copy of The Dragon Within. Tell me what you do to lift your spirits on a bad day. Sexy Mr. Random will pick the winner from the comments, after 3pm EST on Monday, January 6, 2020. GOOD LUCK!
