My Chat with Riven

Hello and welcome!

Today, I just wanted to stay home, put my feet up, watch a good movie and relax. Nothing more, well, nothing that I can write about on an open forum at any rate. 😉

Imagine my surprise earlier today when I get home after doing a grocery trip, there is a note waiting for me on my front door. ‘Dinner is on me. If you are interested, call this number. They will give you the address and send a car for you, dress accordingly. Riven‘

Right, as if I am going to believe this. I enter my apartment and the smell of hot food teases my nose and I suddenly feel hungry. The only problem is, my son ate it all. He looks at me in surprise and comments, I thought you were going out, or so the note on the bag said, so I ate it all. There wasn’t that much anyway.

Right, this is the ‘hollow leg’ talking, there is never much of anything and what there is, gets absorbed. I swear that teenager inhales the food and goes looking for more. It did smell good though. I look at the number on the note in my hand and think I have nothing to lose. I will give it a try and see what happens. At the very least, I might get a free meal out of this. I dial the number and a man with a slightly nasal sounding voice answers. I might sound prejudiced, but usually that type tends to be stuck up.

Good evening, you have reached The Chase Restaurant. What can we do for you?

I roll my eyes and then answer, I was given this number and told to mention Riven has instructions for me.

Of course, Ms. Eniko, I will have the limousine dispatched for you immediately. It will arrive in a half an hour. Our dress code is formal, I will tell Mr. Riven that you are on your way.

I hang up and my eyes grow big… It is real… and The Chase? Oh yum, and I am starved.

Dress code, formal… of course… and in half an hour. I am going to break the speed limit getting ready and making sure I am not late for my ride.

I smile as a stretch limousine arrives at the front door exactly a half an hour later and breath a sigh of relief that I beat it by a mere minute and a half. So, I am a little out of breath, but I am having dinner at The Chase.

A gorgeous dark haired male meets the limo and opens the door with a bow and a smile that makes me sigh, amongst other things. Man, this man should have a warning label on him. I can’t help but return his smile with one of my own and he offers his hand to help me out of the back of the car. Of course you know I am not going refuse his help, right? Snort. I am feeling sooooo shameless right now. The moment I am out of the car he tucks my hand onto the crook of his arm and leads me into the restaurant.

I hope you don’t mind my sending for you the way I did, I am Riven, Teryka’s husband. Merika said I am to treat you right, or she will make my life interesting in ways I don’t want to think about for the next year. She didn’t tell me that I would be greeting a lady though. I am very impressed. Teryka says to say hello, and she sent a little surprise for you, homemade truffles made with the best chocolate she could bring through the portal into our world. She says you are partial to them.

Merika knows me well. Many thanks to her.

Tyrus and Kodac have added a little something for you too, which left me to gift you with flowers. As I never know what to order for a woman, I have told the florist to sent a couple dozen blush peonies to your home. Unfortunately, they won’t arrive until tomorrow.

Oh those are my fave!

I have been told by a little birdie a few of your favourite dishes, Calamari, Veal Masala and Filet Mignon. They are preparing them all so you can take your pick or try them all if you wish.

I feel spoiled already, and so hungry. My stomach makes a noise agreeing heartily.

The man has an slight accent that I can’t place, but I bet it could slay dragons. I am going to enjoy this… 

We chatted well into the night and I managed to get some answers out of him. Read on and find out.

Generally I would say down to earth, but something has thrown me off my game lately.

Describe what you are wearing now to our readers.
I have found that while I am more comfortable wearing work clothes, I do like my suits. I am wearing a dark grey Gucci 3 piece suit at the moment. What do you think? Does it suit me?
It sure does… very well!

When you look at a woman what catches your interest?
The way she carries herself. You can always tell if she is confident with who she is deep inside.

Do you have somebody in your life now?
There is and always will be only one woman for me, Teryika. My wild rose.

The last thing she expects is for Riven to follow her, or end up in a starring role in the same show, but his being by her side feels so right, and she can only wonder how that happened.

My review – 5 stars
I fell in love with the Valley and its people in book 1 and book 2 is feeding my addiction to this wonderful world the author created. Destined to be together, Teryka and Riven do not have an easy journey. Loved Riven and we get to see another side of him. Kodac is still full a mischief, he is still my fave secondary character. Great continuation of the series. I can’t wait for the next one.

My review: 4 stars

I enjoyed reading this contemporary love story about a young man falling for the woman so different from what his family or society expects him to be with. Being part of high society means he has to follow the rules, but Linc falls hard for Alexis. His eyes are opened seeing how society treats those that are not following “the rules”. My heart was breaking for Alexis, who is ‘big’ by society’s standards, seeing how she had a hard time trusting that Linc was really interested in her and not taking part of a cruel prank.

The author did a great job portraying the emotional rollercoaster they both are on being at the opposite ends of the society’s scale and both dealing with the rules forced on them.

One minus is that it ends in a cliffhanger with no warning leaving me with a sad feel thinking… nooo it cannot end like this!!!! I hope the next book is coming soon.

Author Bio

Alexandria Sure is from Michigan and adores her supportive family, her two rescue pups, and her mighty Spartans.
