Gabriel is 5 years old! YAY

Hello and welcome!

Today we celebrate 5 years since ‘Gabriel’, book 1 of the Elven Chronicles was released to the world.

CONGRATS M. A. ABRAHAM!

EC-bookmarks-x2-final

5 years later and 12 full novels & 9 short stories make up the Elven Chronicles! An epic series you should not miss!

For this occasion I asked a few of the fans of the series to share with me their impressions of Gabriel.

But first I would like to introduce Gabriel to those of you who have not met him yet.

c60c6696-d0ab-46d5-8922-f19dbcab3796

Gabriel Eagle Claw is the High Lord General of the Combined Elven Armies in the Elven Chronicles by M. A. Abraham. He plays a big part in the series and is adored by many. I came to really-really like him, especially after reading the last book in the series, “Kings of the Empire” released last month.

Eden-poster.jpg

His Life Mate is Eden, a powerful Tratchar, a special title held by Elves of extreme power focused on the health and welfare of the Great Guardian and the Sentinel Trees of the Elven Empire.

1-gabriel-meme

Here is my impression of Gabriel when I first read it, way before it was published, sent in an email to MA…

Date: Sun, 29 May 2011 09:11:33
Subject: Gabriel

Hello Mary Ann!

I finished Gabriel and I am looking forward to getting Marious. You have a wonderful imagination and it should be shared with a lot of people, but I am glad you decided to share with me. I think the story is wonderful, lots of twists and turns, unexpected surprises…. I loved it because it had a range of emotion triggers, especially the humour, and I find it an easy reading, just enough descriptions without getting boring.
In the end I found myself hungry for more. I hope you will continue the story line.

I would love to read any of your stories.
Hugs

The response I got: “I am working on Marious and there are 3 others that follow”

Here is my review for ‘Gabriel’

5 stars – I am definitely an Elfanatic!

I haven’t read too many books of elves and the ones I read were portraying elves as evil or at least not very nice. Gabriel’s book opened another world which portrays elves in a totally different light, as any other supernatural beings, with the good and the bad. I really enjoyed the book, with its complex and varied characters and at the same time easy to read, just enough descriptive scenes without getting overwhelmed. I look forward to the next ones in the series. I highly recommend the book, even if you are not into elven books.

You can check what other people had to say about it since it released on line in reviews left on various portals.

From the author:

The idea of Gabriel popped into my head about 2 weeks after my mother died. For whatever reason I picked up a pen and started to write.

It had never been my intention to write more than Gabriel‘s story, but by the time it was finished, ‘Marious’ Story’ had been born, ‘King’s Champion’ took flight when Serenity showed up on the scene.  Gabriel, as a character kept growing until he seemed to grow bigger than life to me.  It was something I felt that only an Elf could do.  In many ways, I felt that the expectations that others had of him were enough to bring anything less than the strongest of men to their knees.  Bringing him to life, along with the others who surround him was quite a trip.  Keeping him humble was a challenge.

The impressions from the fans of the series:

“This was my first foray into the Elven world and I was astonished how much I loved it. What a wonderful and intriguing story this is and I loved the characters. Gabriel became my Elven book boyfriend! Oh and Eden, what a beautiful spitfire she is but a very loyal soul! I couldn’t wait to read the next intriguing story – I was hooked.” ~ Betty ~

“I was pulled into this world and loved the characters and the world Mary Ann built for them, and didn’t want to leave it. At first I was pulled more to Marious in the story but by the end I was in love with Gabriel, he and Eden have remained my favorite couple through out the series. I had a very hard time reading another book after this one, and had the same problem with each of the books following. I would love to live there. Have reread it many times.” ~ Emily ~

“This is a genre I don’t generally read, but decided to venture out…Now I know why I was waiting for the perfect book & in Gabriel I found it, I was transported to a world so fantastic I never wanted to come back. Also discovered a new found love of Elves 🙂 This is a wonderfully written tale, with moments so touching brought tears to my eyes….But every emotion is played on. If you read nothing else, Read this. 🙂

Gabriel stayed with me, the perfect dream man, his bravery, loyalty, & his great love for Eden, his life mate & their children…What a wonderful pair… Eden was so stubborn, but loving, willing to give all if need be… They complemented teach each other perfectly, this is a series I hate to see end but they will always have a special place in my heart. I can’t thank Mary Ann enough for the emotional journey these books brought for me. Gabriel’s story will always be very special to me.” ~ Liz ~

“I have known Mary Ann before she had any thoughts of publishing her works. I first met her in Christine Feehan’s site, which was a wonderful place to meet many people who had the same enjoyment of reading and the author. I learned upon our many talks about her love of writing and her thoughts about not trying to publish her books, which I gathered were many over the years. Becca and many of her friends pushed Mary to self publish, which she eventually did. That is where it all began with Gabriel and the start of the Elven Chronicles.

Sandy and I started our own blogging site for book reviews in January of 2012, and we were happy to feature a new author, M.A. Abraham. 5 years later, we have followed and supported Mary throughout her career as a novelist, and now though it has been a joyous journey, the first arc of the Elven Chronicles has come to a close with Kings of the Empire. I thought I would give my thoughts on this series, which includes 12 novels and many novellas.

When I started this series with Gabriel, it was a new world created by M.A. Abraham, with Elves, warriors and a sweet romance between Gabriel and Eden, who would continue to play a major part of this series the entire way. Little did I think after the first book how much Gabriel, Eden and all those elves we met along the way would become part of our family. My final comment on my review of Gabriel: ‘M.A. Abraham is a fresh and interesting new author, with a wonderful imagination.’  Wow, I had no idea how true this would be as each new book was published.

In my later reviews, I had noted many times about Mary’s wonderful imagination creating all her stories, besides the Elven Chronicles; as well having a wonderful sense of humor. By the time we got to the 4th book, I can see a change in Mary’s writing as she was evolving into more serious stories, with tense, exciting action, added to her blend of humor & wonderful romantic couples. Each book just kept getting better and better. In the last book, Kings of the Empire, I think this comment says it all:

‘M.A. Abraham blows us away with a wild, non stop, thrilling, exciting finale that wows us with her seamless flow, especially with the main characters, both new and those who have been with from the start. Thank you M.A. Abraham for bringing us into your world of Elves, and your wonderful characters we have come to love.’

I am proud to call Mary Ann my friend, and an author I will always read. Thank you, Mary, it has been a fun wonderful ride with you and I look forward to being with you on your next journey.” ~ Barb
, The Reading Cafe ~

“I’ve read many of M.A.’s works and enjoyed each one.

‘Gabriel’ happens to be one of the first works of this author I read. I enjoyed the escape it allowed me and all of the magical sweetness.

Elves are not easy to write about. They’re rather complex beings with unpredictable personalities. Creating a world the characters as M.A. has done, and with such vivid imagination, is not easy yet she did it for not just one book but an entire series.

I’ll say that many will be turned off from the overconfidence most elves project. But given the proper chance, I feel they’d find themselves rather enjoying themselves and the unity they show as they progress further into the pages. I’d recommend ‘Gabriel’ to any reader’s out there looking for something different.” ~ A.R. Von ~ author of Wunder Series

“It was such a beautiful world you’ve created M.A. And I think thats what Earth should have been =D “ ~ Al ~

“This is my first book about Elves and I was not disappointed. I didn’t know what to expect, but Ms. Abraham painted a beautiful picture in my mind with her words of Elves, beautiful villages and woodland forest. I was taken on an enchanted journey, were I met amazing an sometimes funny Elf characters, that I wanted to know more about. I felt like I was actually there in the story watching Gabriel and Eden’s love develop and grow. What a wonderful couple. Their are a few twist and surprise’s in the story that I didn’t see coming and at time I was wondering how is Ms.Abraham going to pull it all together, but she did!! This is a very well written story. WELL DONE MS. ABRAHAM!!! I highly recommend this book and I can’t wait for the next book in The Elven Chronicles!!!” ~ Edwina ~

“I enjoyed this book quite a lot. It’s a great fantasy, one that I recommend to anyone who loves the genre, and one that I definitively want to read the next book from.” ~ Mel, Journey with Words

” The feeling of a new world, of powerful beings with an unknown and interesting possible destiny, AN AMAZING MAIN COUPLE, lot of romance, a superb plot and much, much more. I will definitely keep reading this series, actually I’ll start next book right away.” ~ Valee ~

“This by far is one of the best Elven stories I have read in quite awhile. Gabriel sets out on a mission to find a mate for his king. instead he finds the beautiful Eden who is wild., lovely and happens to speak with trees! If you love Elves., this is a story for you. The style of Ms Abrahams writing will keep you addicted and wanting more. on to book two I go.” – Rose ~

Notes the author received:

“The first comment I got from anyone not involved, was that she read it as a favour, because she was a friend. She felt she owed me an apology for thinking I couldn’t tell a story at the time. She said she changed her mind quickly.”

If you have not read the Elven Chronicles yet, now is a good time to start, book 1 is FREE for a limited time! Buy links on the website!

My surprise Chat with Daeron, the grouch! …sheesh

Hello and welcome!

I had a surprise visitor earlier today…  from the future no less. Read on!

I sit in my chat room, writing in my blog planner, and my thoughts turn to the Elves I learned to love over the years.  Remembering the old days when nearly anything could happen in this room, while M.A. Abraham wrote the Elven Chronicles.  Well, I guess that is about to change, now that the series is over.  I have to admit, I am going to miss those characters, even if we will get glimpses of what their lives are like in EC: One Empire, starting with the novella “Rising from the Ashes”, which will release December 10, 2017.  So, now what can I expect?

As I close my book, the door of the interview room flies open and crashes against the wall behind it with a loud boom.  A moment later an Elf I have never seen before walks through the doorway, or rather, he storms through the door.

Eniko?

Yes I answer uncertainly.  I don’t know what to think of him, although he has to be one of the most gorgeous Elves I have ever seen, and I have to admit, I have seen some prime Elves.  His gruff manner and angry expression is enough to put any person off though.

I read in the archives that you used to interview my predecessors.  The Elf growled.

Ouch, what a grouch!  Should I answer, or just throw him out?  He is so mad there is smoke coming out of his nostrils.  Wait a moment; I have never seen that before.  Who is this character?

I don’t get a chance to ask; as he barrels into the topic he wants to discuss, before I can find out what he is talking about.

I am Daeron, second in command of the Guardians of the Empire.  I am here on behalf of the other eleven members of the Elven/Dragon squad to see if you can help us stop our leader from getting carried away with his plans.  You see, he has these two daughters and he is obsessed with finding mates for them from amongst the Guardians.  I admit, some are a little more enthusiastic about that idea that I am, but someone has to talk some reason into his head.  He has brought the first girl to our home headquarters, and although she is beautiful, I would rather forego the pleasure of her company.  To begin with, I don’t think any man should be forced into this type of situation.  It isn’t fair, or healthy.  The girl doesn’t seem too pleased that she is being put into the limelight either.   She is a timid little thing, no fit consort for an Elven/Dragon shifter.  Daeron  snarled.

I thought Elves couldn’t force a Life Mate bond,  I speak mildly, with the idea that if I don’t panic or show signs of doing so, I might get out of this alive.  Alright, I have to admit I am enjoying the Elf candy, but does he have to be so surly?  As I think this, I can’t help but check out the man who stands before me.

venlian.deviantart.com.jpg
source

Long beautiful blond hair that falls to his waist.  Check.  A face that would make an angel weep.  Most definitely.  A body that would make most men kill for, oh yeah… I do a double take over that chest and give a inward sigh.  And, he is wearing a pair of leather pants that are nearly as tight as those Liessen used to wear.  Leather is my weakness, too bad he needs an attitude adjustment.

We can’t, and King Gerolth won’t force anyone into a relationship, not really, but he can sure make life miserable for anyone who wants to try to fight him on this.  Daeron growled.

Suppose you sit down and tell me what this is all about, starting from the top, so I can have an insight to what your problem is all about, I suggest.

Great, another talker, typical female,  Daeron snorts.

Great, another crabby man coming to me for advice, I return, although I am not sure where I am getting the courage from.  Then again, Daeron sounds desperate, so maybe I am not so far off the mark.

Daeron sits on the visitor’s couch, puts his dusty boots up on my newly polished coffee table, and begins.  The first Guardian was Altarian, who lived to a ripe age of 25000 years.  Gerolth is his son, and he can be a pain, if you know what I mean.  Those of us who serve under him have always considered him to be a very reasonable, and sensible, character.  But, since he found his Life Mate, he has been unbearable, especially since he managed to locate his twin daughters as well.

I thought Life Mates couldn’t live apart, my brow creases as I think about that little rule.  I am sure I am right.

Usually they can’t, but she hid behind the veil, and it served as a buffer.  He could tell she was alive, even if he couldn’t see her.  He also knew that she was close by, so the need to tear the world apart didn’t interfere with his thinking capacity.  It sure made a difference when they returned to his world.  That was when he got ideas about matching them with members of the Guardians, though rumor says this idea isn’t a new one.  The last thing I need is a Life Mate right now.  I am comfortable with the way things are, Daeron  stated.

I thought all male Elves wanted to meet their Life Mates.  That they thought it was a priority, something that would complete them and bring them happiness.  I returned.

I am not merely an Elf.  I am a Dragon shifter.  I, along with my eleven brethren, are amongst the prime warriors in the Empire.  Let me rephrase that.  I was one of the prime warriors, now I am much more, for my Dragon has come out.  We have no need for a mate.  We are perfect as we are, Daeron bragged smugly.

Not conceited either, are you?  I asked.

I could smell the smoke as it came out of his nose at that comment.  By now, I knew that Daeron wouldn’t harm me.  Under that veneer, he was vulnerable, and that was what he was fighting to protect.  He is lucky he never got to meet Serenity or her girls.  They would have trimmed his wick.

I can see, I am not going to get any help from you.  Trust women to group together against men when the time comes, Daeron grumbled.

You were the one to come to me, as if I can do anything.  I don’t know the Elves you are talking about.  Also, did it ever occur to you that Gerolth’s daughters might not be interested in you?  I suggested.

The look of surprise on Daeron ’s face was priceless.  He blinked at me in disbelief, and then snorted, as he commented.  What is not to like?

Oh, I can think of a few, beginning with your surly attitude.  You ever think she might be of the opinion that she can do better elsewhere?  I ask.

Not likely, but then what would you know, Daeron snorted.  Then he got up from the couch and grinned; as he tossed me such a wickedly suggestive glance that it made me blush profusely.

I can’t believe that I did that.  I am well past schoolgirl age, but I have the feeling that he could make me feel young again, if he put a little effort into it.

Daeron’s smile widened, as he cupped my chin in his hand and looked deeply into my eyes.  With a voice made for satin sheets and dark sultry nights, he purred  You have no idea what an Elven/Dragon shifter can make you feel, or want to do.  Dream well, my Eniko, for you never know who will come to you in the night and how well loved you will feel when you wake.

Daeron then turned, and walked back out through the door he entered.  I blink, lost in the thoughts his suggestion created in the back of my mind.  Damn, I need a shower.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hope you enjoyed the unexpected visit. Despite him being a grouch, I kinda liked Daeron but I am looking forward to see him knocked-off a few pegs by his Life Mate, and knowing Ms. Abraham, she will be a feisty one that will put him thru his paces and make him work for everything bwahaha
Daeron hails from “The Goddess”, book 1 in the “Guardians of the Empire” series, the 2nd spin-off series after the Elven Chronicles, releasing February 4, 2018.
