My chat with Calan and Machar

Hello and welcome!

My post is a bit late … well … I was a bit busy with these hunks as you will see shortly …

Good thing I am sitting down, my legs are weak just looking at these hunks. I think I am in trouble, I have to drink something cold …

I have Calan and Machar here! Welcome! Please sit anywhere you like. Shall we start?

I take a drink of my ice tea and mentally keep my fingers crossed I don’t stutter… much. I do tend to do that when I am face to face with yummies!

Image

What is your full name?
Calan: Calan of Kirkwall, shortened to Calan Kirk, as befitting modern times. winks at me Rolls better off the tongue, doesn’t it, lass?
Mack: By St. Joseph’s Wood, you never stop flirting brother.  Looks at me, his smile no less devastating *sigh*  And I am Machar Kirk, his slightly older, but more experienced, brother.

Do you have a nickname?
Mack: My friends call me Mack. So you can call me Mack, darlin’.
Calan: rolls eyes He thinks it’s charming, but I’ve known trucks with the same name.
Mack: Well, hasn’t anyone ever given you a nickname?
Calan: Not sure I’d call it a nickname, but the lasses do tend to call out “Oh God!” when they’re with me.
I choke on my ice tea and Mack is tapping my back gently. I better not drink while they answer… chuckle
Mack: Shite.

What is one word that best describes you?
Calan: Hungry.
Mack: Famished.

Describe what you are wearing now to our readers.
Calan: looks down Jeans. A T-shirt. And my favourite vintage leather jacket, the one my mate Maggie managed to cover in mud not long ago. But that’s a story for another day.
Mack: Well, as my mate Beth could tell you, I spent some time as a rock roadie. I have a collection of rock band T-shirts. I’m wearing my Pink Floyd shirt today. But I prefer how it looks on Beth, especially when it’s all she wears.
Personally I think they would look yummy in anything… or nothing 😀

Do you think the author portrayed you accurately?
Calan: That pesky lass Rosanna Leo made me out to be some sort of playboy.
Mack: You are, or at least you were until you met your Maggie.
Calan: That’s beside the point.
Mack: Ms. Leo did a fine job portraying me, on the other hand. She showed me as I am: intelligent, somber and caring.
Calan: And a slave to your cock.
Mack: You’re such a peedie piss weasel, Calan.

What makes you laugh out loud?
Mack: Modern music. By St. Winnifred’s knockers, will someone please explain Justin Bieber to me?
Calan: laughing loudly My brother makes me laugh. That and my Maggie, when her pretty red curls get in her eyes. Gets me every time.

What is your fave dessert?
Both men eye each other and respond as one We might offend your readers if we tell you the truth.

What is your greatest fear?
Mack: I’ve lived my greatest fear. I had to watch my Beth as she suffered after being ravaged by an evil finman. I still can’t wipe those memories from my brain.
Calan: pats him on shoulder The same goes for me. If anything ever happened to my Maggie, there would be hell to pay.

What is your fave colour?
Calan: Red, like my Maggie’s hair. No, blue, like her eyes.
Mack: Make up your mind, piss weasel.
Calan: Blue, then. And yours, my much older brother?
Mack: grins Beth’s skin turns this interesting color of pink after we…well, never you mind.

What do you wear when you go to sleep?
both men shrug
Mack: We’re selkies. Nothing.

What is the perfect romantic date?
Mack: Swimming nude in the waves with Beth.
Calan: I was going to say that.
Mack: You swim nude with my Beth?
Calan: blushes Give me strength.

How ticklish are you? Where are you ticklish?
Calan: eyes me I won’t answer that question.
Mack: I agree. I vote we tickle Eniko instead? Where are you ticklish, love?

No, no, no. No way I am telling you that!

I swat Mack’s hands away  You stop that!
they both chuckle

What’s your favourite smell? What does it remind you of?
both men burst into laughter
Mack: There’s another one we can’t answer, lass, for fear of sounding indecent.

When you look at a woman what catches your interest?
Mack: A sparkle in her eye. And a lovely set of hips that I can clutch.
Calan: I’ve always been a breast man. Maggie’s, in particular.

Do you have somebody in your life now?
Calan: Yes, I mentioned my lovely mate Maggie. She’s originally from Toronto, but I’m so glad she found her way to Orkney.
Mack: My Beth is from Florida. She came to me through rather tragic circumstances, ones I wish I could change for her sake. That being said, I’m glad we found each other, and I won’t let her go now.

What is one word best describes her?
Calan: smiles Maggie is stubborn, but in the best way.
Mack: Beth is brave, braver than anyone I know.

Can you tell us a bit about what the future holds for the readers of the series?
Calan: chuckles Well, I’ve heard Rosanna Leo plans to tackle our brother Edan soon. I can’t wait to see that red-haired bastard in her mischievous clutches.
Mack: And not a moment too soon. When he gets his book, Eniko, can we come back and play with you, lass?
Of course you can! I wink at them  You can come an play with me anytime!

Looking forward to reading Edan’s story too.
Thank you both for dropping by and answering my questions. I had a lot of fun.
Give my love to Maggie and Beth!

Mack: What about us?

OK OK!!! Come here! I am dwarfed as they each lean in for a hug… mmmmm … sigh

As they leave I turn the fan on high, is it hot in here???

Thank you for stopping by and reading my exciting interview with two of the hunks from the Orkney Selkies series by Rosanna Leo.

Calan‘s book – The Selkie

ImageThis was supposed to be her year. However, after losing her job and discovering her fiancé cheating, Maggie Collins has her doubts. When her grandmother dies, she hits rock bottom. Maggie travels to her grandmother’s home in Orkney, Scotland to sort through her gran’s things, only to discover the old woman has left her a seal pelt as her inheritance. She also learns that others are after the pelt.

To add to her frustration, Maggie’s dreams are filled with luscious images of a long-haired man, images that draw her to the magical beaches in Orkney. Although she’s lost her trust in men, this dream man inspires her with a lust she’s never known before.

Calan Kirk has also been dreaming. Dreaming of Maggie, the mortal woman who arouses him as no other woman ever has. Meeting her in the flesh when she arrives in Orkney is nothing short of spontaneous sexual combustion. But she is a human, and not to be trusted. He needs the seal pelt, not a red-haired temptress.

As a thief ransacks Maggie’s grandmother’s house, Maggie and Calan are thrust together. They must search for the animal skin, a mythical relic which once found, will either bring them together or rip them apart forever.

Machar‘s book – Selkie’s Revenge

ImageOn the beaches of Orkney, Scotland, an evil entity stalks mortal women. Machar “Mack” Kirk is a selkie man with a haunted past, one that has prompted him to become a hunter. He prowls the beaches at night, his arrows aiming for the finman who took his first love.
Beth Pedersen also watches the sea. The haunted widow has suffered losses of her own, ones that have crippled her into a state of stony grief. Beth can no longer feel, can no longer see color and life. Until the day Mack Kirk saves her from a mysterious foe, flooding her world with brightness and foreign temptation.
As Mack and Beth fight their growing passion, the finman escalates his attacks. Before long, Mack realizes he’s not just playing Good Samaritan. He wants Beth, too, and will do anything to ensure his lover isn’t taken by the finman. But can he protect his mate from a monster with no soul?

Chapter I My Darling, Janice

M. A. Abraham

CHAPTER I

May 20, 1823

“Don’t you consider it rather a bit of an inconvenience having a younger sister dropped on your doorstep on such short notice Martin?”  Jeremy asked after reading the letter his friend had handed him. They lounged comfortably before a roaring fire after sharing a meal.

Martin’s lips curled in amusement as he stretched a flawlessly clad leg closer to the blazing flames, and lazily answered.  “Janice could never be an inconvenience Jeremy.  In fact, she has to be one of the most entertaining people I know.  I have yet to meet another girl with so much life.”

“An eighteen year old, school room Miss?”  Jeremy scoffed with an exaggerated air of disbelief.  He had three sisters of his own and he was of the firm opinion that younger sisters were nothing more than complete nuisances.

Martin knew all this…

Hello and welcome!

You might ask why the name?
Fire & Ice… I think it fits my personality as many of my friends would attest to that… 😀     I am passionate about things I care about.

You might ask why the blog?
I’ve been doing it for quite a while now on another site, not happy, so I moved it here and see if it works better

What is this blog about? Anything and everything.

One of my hobbies is psychology. I say a hobby, because I never studied officially. It became a conscious thought after leaving the old country many years ago. I was trying to understand the collapse of my family, but I will not get into that, too personal and painful.

Working in the restaurant business for 10+ years gave me an insight in the workings of the human brain. Read anything I could get my hands on, but learned mostly by watching people. I studied the face and its expressions, most people don’t realize what could be read from a face, especially the eyes, along with the body language. I stopped reading faces in depth, I don’t want to know more than I have to.

One major observation I have is that people don’t communicate enough. I mean they talk, but do they communicate? In so many relationships I observed that important factor is missing, and I am not talking only about relationships between couples, but parent and child, siblings, friends, co-workers and even fleeting interactions in a store or on the street.

I find most people superficial and shallow. I have prejudices too, I don’t deny it, but I lost a lot of them along the way. I find most people are too self-centered to get past that first impression.

I felt like an outsider most of my life, landing in situations beyond my control and was judged by where I am from or how I was dressed. I am a non-conformist by the so called “normal people” rules, because I don’t accept things without logic or common sense.

Not that I care about what most people I come in contact with say. I only care for the opinion of the people who matter in my life.

I wasn’t always like this, but life taught me the hard way thru many blows, but I think I turned out pretty good.

Laughter and sarcasm are part of my daily life. Life is short and I try to live each day to the fullest. Sometimes I fall short of that goal, and I have regrets, but try not to dwell on them. They surface sometimes when I hit bottom, but I try to get past them. I can’t change the past, only the way I look back on it and what I do with what I learned from it.

I think of my life as a book, still being written, with many chapters, most  of them pretty good, a few of them pretty bad. I guess because I am an avid reader. I read over 250 books a year.

So… I hope you will come back again to read and maybe respond to my ramblings. If it makes you think, either agreeing or disagreeing, then I accomplished what I set out to do.

Happy reading! ‘Till next time.

My chat with Eden and Gabriel…

Hello and welcome!

I am so excited today, I am waiting for Eden and Gabriel to arrive. For those of you who do not know, they are hailing from the Elven Light Kingdom. With their story starts the journey into the Elven Chronicles that I came to love so much.

So I am sitting here, by the fireplace, it is still a bit chilly, but at least spring is showing a bit and hey! as long as there is no snow, I am a happy camper. I am longing for the summer and the heat.

I am sipping on my coffee and get lost in thought, looking at the picture on my mug. Yes, as you my friends guessed, I am holding my Lothrariel cup. He is my love, my Warrior King from the Elven Chronicles…. *sigh*

Image

Coming out of my little world, I look up and I am surprised to see six young Elves before me.  What is this?

“Where are your parents?”

“Dad got caught in the high branches of the Sentinel somehow.”  Eärwen snickered behind her hand.

Wonder how that happened?

“Where is your mom?”  I ask.

“Helping dad get down.  She told us to leave because the language we were hearing was not fit for young ears.”  Jerrol grinned happily.

I have a feeling Eden didn’t have much to do with Gabriel getting stuck in those high branches.

“Tell me, just for curiosity sake, how did Gabriel end up in the upper branches of the Sentinel?”  I ask foolishly.

“We could show you.”  Timorean offered.

“It wouldn’t be the same thing.”  Gildren argued.

Something tells me it wouldn’t be a good idea anyway.  I get shaky standing on my tiptoes, not about to allow anyone to push me up into a tree.

“That is alright, we can skip that part, though I thank you for the offer.  A simple explanation will suffice.”

A disappointed sigh runs through the group.

“Alright, but you promise not to tell mom if we explain?”  Gildren asked.

“You think she won’t know?”  I ask.

They exchange another sigh, which speaks volumes.  They are dead Elflings and they know it.

“Probably.”  Ennacas admitted.

“Well, I promise that I won’t rat you out if that will make you feel any better.  Your secrets are safe with me.”  I wow.

“Alright.  Dad was trying to get one of the kittens down from the tree branches over the house.”  Ennacas began.

I take one look at those eyes shinning so mischievously and just know there is more to this story than they are telling me.

“Kittens?  I didn’t know you had kittens.”

“Neither did mom or dad.”  Galador choked on his laughter as he turned to hide a huge smile.

There is definitely more to this than meets the eyes.

“What kind of kittens do you have and what were they doing in the high branches of the Sentinel?”

I have to know, curiosity is killing me. Personally I think they can tell it on me and are playing games.

“We have a couple leopard kittens.”  Eärwen confessed.

“They are so cute.”  Ennacas added.

“What were you doing with leopard kittens and where are their mother?”  I also wonder how old they are.

“We were kitten sitting.”  Jerrol answered with a straight face.

Now I know something is up, all six children are trying to look so innocent they are succeeding.  Damn, but they are good.  They are also into trouble up to their eyebrows.  I can feel it.

“So how did you end up with this babysitting job?”

“We found them alone.”  Galador explained.

“Honestly.”  Jerrol confirmed.

“Well, we couldn’t just leave them.  What if they wondered off and got hurt?  They are just babies.”  Ennacas asked.

“Kittens.”  Gildren agreed.

“Anyway, after we had them home for a little while they escaped from our rooms where we had them hidden.  I mean, where they were safely kept.”  Eärwen confessed.

“We honest thought they would be safe.”  Ennacas added.

“They were having a great time playing in the family room.”  Jerrol explained.

“Then Larien came through the front door to see Eärwen.”  Gildren explained.

“They knocked her back out through the door and she fell down the stairs.”  Jerrol replied.

“I stopped her from tumbling all the way down so she wouldn’t get hurt.”  Eärwen injected.

“She didn’t get hurt, but she screamed and cried like a baby.”  Galador scrunched up his nose in disgust.

“She got the breath knocked out of her.”  Ennacas stated as she punched her brother on the side of the arm.

“OW…” Galador complained as Eärwen smacked him from the other side.

“She got scared you would have cried too, so don’t try hand us that ‘girls are such a bunch of babies’ act.  I could tell tales about you.”  Eärwen warned.

“You going to let then gang up on your own brother like this?”  Galador complained.

“We have seen it happen.”  Gildren replied with a grin.

“Enough!” I yelled.

I can see things are getting out of control and it was time to get their attentions back onto the subject we were talking about.

“How old are these kittens?”

“About a couple months.”  Jerrol admitted.

“So back to how your father got into the upper branches.”  I tried to direct the conversation.

“Well, like we said, the kittens escaped.”  Eärwen began.

“But they noticed dad coming up the stairs and climbed on top of the house, where they continued to climb through the branches.”  Ennacas continued.

“Dad caught Larien before your spell started to get week then heard the kittens calling from the top of the Sentinel.”  Eärwen added.

“Unfortunately, so did their mother.”  Gildren replied.

“She didn’t get to the Sentinel very quickly and as we were all afraid the kittens might fall, dad went to get them down.”  Timorean chuckled.

“He had just about gotten to the kittens when both our mom and their mom showed up.” Jerrol grinned.

“Mom took one look at that angry mother leopard and yelled at us to get into the house. She then tied her up and followed.”  Eärwen proudly announced.

“The only reason she did that was because dad yelled at her not to kill the leopard because she had kittens.”  Gildren added for clarification.

“Mom barely got into the house before that mother leopard got loose.”  Jerrol admitted.

“I thought that was very interesting too.  She sure was in a temper.”  Galador admitted.

“She took off up that tree faster than I thought anything could climb.”  Jerrol noted.

“Shows what you know.”  Timorean scoffed.  “Dad out climbed her at double her speed.  I didn’t know Elves could climb so high so fast.  I am going to have to try that sometime. The branches are sure spindly up there though, could be dangerous.  Anyway, he is lucky they didn’t break.”  Galador pointed out.

“That is because mom was reinforcing them from below.”  Eärwen sniffed.

“Then what happened?”  I managed to fit in a question.

I know I shouldn’t be encouraging them, but I an curious, shoot me.

“We don’t know.”  Ennacas admitted.

“I noticed it was time for your interview with mom and dad and thought we better see to it as mom and dad were so busy.”  Galador answered.

The door to the interview room opened and Gabriel and Eden walked through.

GOOD GRIEF, THEY ARE COVERED IN SCRATCHES AND THEIR HAIR IS A MASS OF TANGLES.

“What happened to you?”  I asked in shock.

That is when I noticed six sets of eyes widen in horror, hear the scraping sounds of furniture against a wood floor and feel the effects of stampeding feet as the young Eagle Claw children head for any exit they can find that isn’t too close to their parents.  How did they manage to get out of the room so quickly?  And where did they find all those extra exits?

I look in question at Gabriel and Eden.  They smile and thank me for taking care of their children while they were occupied, bow, wink and leave.

Wow! What just happened? I speak out loud to the empty room. My head is still reeling.

Then I burst out laughing.

Now you see why I love the Elven Chronicles! Never a boring moment, that’s for sure 😀
