My Chat with M. A. Abraham

Hello and welcome!

I am starting a new feature here in the Chat room.

Chats with my fave authors.

Being my fave author of all times, it is fitting that the very first guest is M. A. Abraham.

Ms. Abraham is known mostly for The Elven Chronicles, a series that I adore and was fortunate enough to be along for the journey from conception to publishing. She calls me her Alpha Reader 😀

EC-bookmark-frontPRINT

I never really liked Elven books before this series, but the world that Ms. Abraham has opened for the readers is amazing and I wish I could go in and never return, and many times I loose myself among the Elves while following their life story.

Read them yourself and you will see why I love the series so much, follow the various characters, each finding their Life Mate and happiness. Of course their life is not easy, they fight against an enemy that is formidable and cunning. Amid all the strife, the author can weave in humour and lighthearted banter that make the books very light and enjoyable. The love is palpable in the story and the bonding scenes are heart melting, the words that the Life Mates speak to each other and joins their life forces.

” YOU ARE MINE, I AM YOURS, TOGETHER WE ARE ONE”

The Elven world is not the only one that Ms. Abraham has shared with her readers. There are the single titles:

1 Aura-cover 1 Dance Ballerina Dance-cover

3 Theory in Depth-cover

4 My Darling Janice-cover

A new SCI-FI series is in the works, TANTALUS, the first book “First Contact” releasing on February 10, 2015, the second book “Integration” releasing in October 2015, the third book, “Hunter’s Challenge” coming after.

 5 First Contact-cover

6 Integration-cover

7 Hunters Challenge-cover

Aren’t the covers just gorgeous? I think all of them are. Becca A. and Cora Graphics are amazing artists.

Now onto the chat.

Welcome Mary Ann!

1. Do you have a nickname?
Regular or fictitious?  Some in the family shorten my name and call me Ann.  Then there are the others who have named me things like ‘The Godmother’ and ‘Mistress of Ambush’.  A few have labeled me ‘The Elven Queen’.  (I need not mention names.
I would add to it, Queen of Tease 😀

2. What is one word best describes you?
Good question, again, I would suppose that would change from person to person, as you asked them.  Evasive?
That you are! Also classy and an awesome friend.

3. What makes you laugh out loud?
There are many things that make me laugh.  A good joke, general humor, or slapstick types of movies.  Comic situations in a book, or simple mischief.  I don’t like the idea of using other people’s misfortune for something to laugh at; that strikes me as just wrong.

4. What is your favourite smell? What does it remind you of?
I love the smell of freshly cut grass, especially in spring.  (Or the first rain of spring).  It reminds me that life goes full circle and is constantly in a state of renewal, no matter what.  It is very refreshing.

5. Favourite place to spend time in.
Lately, it has been in my mind.
I wish I could spend time in there too, I find it fascinating.

6. Is there a genre that you refuse to read?
I am not fond of heavy erotica.  When I read a book I want to feel like I got something out of it.  I want to feel like I have read a real story where I can get lost in the plot.  I don’t want to close the book and feel that there was nothing in it but sex.

7. Writing! What started it?
I was challenged by a friend to write one and, being very competitive, I went for it…. Bwaahaahaa. The rest is history.

8. If you could choose another career what would it be?
I remember a time when I wanted to work in a planetarium.

9. Audiobooks! Any plans to have any of your books in audio format?
I have considered it, thought about the costs and, honestly don’t know what to answer.  Are my books really good enough?  I admit I do have my moments of insecurity.
I think they are. I would love to have Loth whisper in my ear, or Eöl, or… Mitchel, or Adam, or Wolfgang

10. Does your work convey a specific emotion or message?
I would like to hear someday that my books made people feel good about the world in general, even if it wasn’t this world.  There are so many things going on in our lives that make us forget that there is happiness out there as well.  I want to bring people something to smile about.
Personally, I think you do, your books helped me thru some bad times and still do. Thank you.

11. Who is your intended audience and why should they read your books?
I would like to think that anyone who is old enough to read my books is my intended audience, because I believe in magic and hope to pass on that belief.

12. What is next in your writing?
I am approximately 2/3 of the way through writing ‘Integration’.  I will begin ‘Surrounded by the Light’, as soon as that is finished.  ‘Surrounded by the Light’ may … or not … be my last Christmas Novella of the Elven Chronicles.  I am considering a different one than the one I had planned for 2016.  Time will tell on that one.  After I have finished writing ‘Surrounded by the Light’, I will begin writing ‘Tratchars’.  I have a feeling this year could be filled with Elves wanting their story told, Ennacas & Endiku, Eärwen & Eöl, Larien & Rothliel and S’Larea & Lothrariel.  These will take us into the 2018/19 release spaces.  In the Tantalus Series, I will write Hunter’s Challenge and Forbidden Contact, which will be a 2016 novella release, I will release a few stand alones while everyone is waiting to come out, and we will talk about a new series that is slowly taking form in my mind.  Yes, I know, it is very busy in there and, it sucks to be me sometimes.

I am looking forward to many more books.

Thank you Mary Ann for coming for a chat and for all the wonderful books you shared with us and the ones coming our way. We are grateful for your busy mind. 😉

  1. Another marvellous interview wish Mary Ann all the best. I love the covers on her New series

  2. I am honoured Eniko, there are authors who are so much better than I that would have fit first place better.

  3. emilylucero

For me you are right up there with Anne McCaffrey and Christine Feehan and a couple of others. I love your books. Love the Elves and the new series is off to a great start. Hoping if there is a new series it has Dragon /Elf shifters in it. LOL

  4. I have three of your books sitting on my TBR pile, literally on my desk, Mary Ann.! I didn’t want to lose sight of them. By this chat, Eniko has reminded me that I need to read them. I love fantasy and magic. It’s not that I need to escape. It’s the possibility of the unknown and possible that keeps me reading those types of books. I started out with Superman comics when a kid, graduated to William Shattner in Star Trek and continue into the imaginations of authors. I’ve also started listening to audiobooks. It really is a lovely way to read a book. Much success to you and I look forward to reading those books on my desk!

    • We are currently going through the whole series to check for flaws… the beginning was very rough in my opinion and has smoothed out since. I really have to thank my editing team for that, without them the books would be unreadable. Hope you enjoy them.

I used to read superman, submariner, mad comics and watch the original Star Trek as well. (Spock was my favourite in that series and I loved Chekov’s accent.) Thanks for the well wishes.

    • When you finally get to read the books you can join me in the campaign to convince MA to go audio LOL
Thanks for dropping by Eileen! Looking forward to your reviews of the 3 books.

I love this new chat you are doing Eniko. I’m an avid fan of your chats and this one was terrific and I love the idea of it. I know I’m so bad-haven’t read the Elven books yet even though I have all of them on my kindle. I love this genre but I know I will have to read them all at once or I’ll be lost. I WILL get to them-I promise. I have one question for Mary Ann and that is where did she get her idea or inspiration for the whole Elven Chronicles-it is really some undertaking.

    • Thanks Betty! I am glad you enjoyed it! I have a few good ones lined up and will be here between the chats with my book boyfriends. You got to read MA’s books!

    • There doesn’t seem to be any one thing I can point at and say, that is why the Elven Chronicles are what they are. About 3 week after my mother died I picked up my old writing pad & a pen and started to write Gabriel, which I shared with a few friends, Their enthusiasm caused me to follow with Marious, it kind of avalanched from there. I don’t know if that answers your question Betty, but there it is.

  6. Mary M.

I would ask Mary Ann if Thena has found the china ladies yet? Also, would she make Eniko lend me Loth for just a weekend, I promise to give him back….. 🙂

  7. Great chat, I really enjoyed reading, and I love the book covers 🙂

  8. And Sexy Mr. Random has chosen… Julie!!!! You lucky lady! CONGRATS!!! Will contact shortly! Happy reading!
Thank you all for coming by and commenting and helping me support Mary Ann!
    More to come!
