My Chat with Mary Morgan

Hello and welcome!

Today I have a wonderful, sweet lady I met recently. How did we meet you ask?

Well… You know the new feature I started not long ago where I invite my friends for a chat with their book boyfriends, right? My friend Liz invited Alastair Colum MacKay. You can read the chat here. He intrigued me, so I read the series thinking I will pick my own book boyfriend. Let me tell you, I couldn’t pick. Soooo…. I invited the author 😀

Please welcome Mary Morgan!

Scottish paranormal romance author, Mary Morgan resides in Northern California, with her own knight in shining armor. However, during her travels to Scotland, England, and Ireland, she left a part of her soul in one of these countries and vows to return.
Mary’s passion for books started at an early age along with an overactive imagination. She spent far too much time daydreaming and was told quite often to remove her head from the clouds. It wasn’t until the closure of Borders Books where Mary worked that she found her true calling–writing romance. Now, the worlds she created in her mind are coming to life within her stories.

Do you have a nickname?
Yes. It’s Lori. My full name is Mary Lorine, so the nickname is a portion of my middle name.

What is one word best describes you?

What makes you laugh out loud?
Hearing my grandchildren play. Their playfulness and laughter is so infectious.

What is your favourite smell? What does it remind you of?
Roses. It invokes warm, spring days filled with love.
I love the pics you posted the other day, beautiful roses.

Favourite place to spend time in.
Near the woods by the ocean in Monterey.

Is there a genre that you refuse to read?
Crime thrillers. I have a difficult time reading them.

Writing! What started it?
I’ve started writing at a young age—from poems to plays. I constantly daydreamed, creating these imaginary worlds within my mind.

If you could choose another career what would it be?
History professor or archaeology.

Audiobooks! What started them?
So many readers had asked me. In addition, I love listening to stories on audio. If you have a good narrator, he/she can transport you within the pages of the book.

Does your work convey a specific emotion or message?
Most definitely! I believe anyone can seek redemption, if they truly want to be redeemed. I also believe in the healing power of true love.

Who is your intended audience and why should they read your books?
For anyone who wants to escape into another world—filled with history, mythology, and true love. Stories that will sweep you across time to the Highlands of Scotland and the shores of Ireland. Where warriors will fight for redemption and the women they love.

What is next in your writing?
I’ve just finished writing the fifth and final Dragon Knight’s story, so I’m keeping fingers crossed it will be out late summer. Currently, I’m working on a Christmas short story with one of the characters from the Dragon Knights series. I’ll share more in the next few months. Afterwards, a brand new series with the Fenian Warriors.

OOOOH! Fenian Warriors you say? I like the sound of that.
Thank you Mary for coming for a chat and putting up with my indecision in choosing my book boyfriend. You make it really hard, you know. I love them all. I am looking forward to reading more.

Thank you all for joining us today and hope you enjoyed the chat.

From the beginning I have admired Mary’s tenacious spirit and her humility in bringing forth the magical and mystical realm of the Dragon Knights. So much ‘pomp’ if you will (brings a smile to my face here) and the descriptive nature for each story just ‘grabs’ and transports you to each realm. I have so enjoyed her books and will be sorry for the end of the Dragon Knights but I know they will live on forever within me and forever on my ‘keeper shelf’ – Long Live The Dragon Knights!

    • Mary Morgan

Running over to give you a hug, Barb! It has been a “verra” long journey, and I’m deeply touched that you stayed with me on this path of becoming a published author. Not only are you a valued reader, but a true friend. Thank you! xoxo

Great interview! Mary is an excellent writer. Readers will be so invested in her stories, that they will fall into the story and be there with the characters experiencing life along with them. I cannot pick which hero I would want or which heroine I would want to be. Her heroines are not wimps, but strong and courageous women. ❤ Mary, I am a fan!

    • Mary Morgan

Hugs, Susan!! Yes, my heroines don’t let those Dragon Knights tell them what to do, lol! They definitely have courage and spunk–a piece of me in each of those women. Thank you so much for your kind words, dear friend. xoxo

I have all of the Dragon Knights on my Kindle…and I have also listened to the first one on Audible. The stories are wonderful. I felt like I was there…both in the present and the past. Can’t wait to read the rest. Would love to listen to the others, as well. With a 45-minute commute to work each day, I have really enjoyed listening to audio books.

  17. Julie

I’m sorry didn’t see this until a few minutes ago. Wishing Mary all the best with her writing.
